Tips: Search Relevant Contents in YouTube

Do you like to watch online videos from YouTube? Tired of the thousands and thousands irrelevant search results? How about watching anime from YouTube? And normally when you search an anime series from YouTube, you are likely to be shown to a list of AMV (anime music video) results, rather than the anime episodes itself. How to over come this? YouTube Search Hacks

Below is a summary of using the search hacks:

~ searching related contents
- filtering keywords
( ) grouping/multiple search
? optional keywords search

I’ve tried it out and it works quite well.
I’m gonna show you the example. Assuming I want to watch an anime called Dears and I want it to be subbed in English. This is what I typed in the search field:

dears anime -amv -teaser -trailer (english|en|eng) (subtitled|subbed|sub)

Now, let’s compare:
By using this search hacks, we get 19 relevant results:

By just typing “dears anime”, we get as many as 387 results which includes a lot of AMV, not the actual episodes.

It doesn’t have to be anime, but just any thing you want to search.

By the way, Dears is a short complete anime of 12 episodes. Kinda interesting.
