Now, almost everywhere you can see information presented in the “wiki” form. It’s part of the
Web 2.0. Which means, it’s become a trend in the Web community. There are more and more sites having their own Wiki sites which allow the community the edit and share information on specific topics. I believe that most of us know about Wikipedia which comes in 10 different languages.
There are several wiki projects other than Wikipedia, which are operated by Wikimedia Foundation. I found that the following wiki projects are quite handy:
- WikiBooks – a free collection of open-contents textbooks. You can find cookbooks here too!
- WikiQuote – find your favorite quotes from movies, famous people, etc… Including Johnny Depp’s.
- WikiSpecies – know more about life. Might be handy for Biology students.
- Wikitionary – definitely an alternative for Dictionary.com
Other than those operated by Wikimedia Foundation, you can get more from the list of Wikis. Before looking through the list, let me recommend a few Wikis from the list:

LyricWiki.org is a lyric database. Now you can search for the lyrics of your favorite songs. You can even search for lyrics in different languages. Kinda cool…

Wookiepedia – The Star Wars Wiki. This should be nice for Star Wars fans.

Uncyclopedia is a satirical parody of Wikipedia. Humorous articles can be found here and of course most of the time they are sarcastic.
