Graduation Ceremony 2007

For this is our main objective traveling all the way from Kuching to Singapore, it was really an excited yet nervous day. I was actually very tired after the night walk in Orchard Road. But I had to force myself to wake up earlier than the other 2 (Dad and Cherry), in order for me to apply my first-ever makeup. (I don’t really wear makeup in my daily life.)

Caution: Personal pix uploaded. Ready to see the author’s true face? =.=

We had our breakfast in the hotel restaurant. It was a breakfast buffet. The “lousiest” buffet I ever saw. We had this for 3 days – yea same food, only the last day instead of having noodle, they gave fried rice.

The ceremony started at 10.30am and it was advised that we arrived there an hour earlier. So after breakfast, we used the cab to reach our destination – Victoria Theatre.

It’s a huge building. I don’t know what building is this, but it is located just beside Victoria Theatre, or perhaps it’s part of Victoria’s.

A view from Victoria Theatre. This kind of tall buildings are all around Singapore. I like this view.

We thought we were early enough. When we reached our destination, it was only 9am++, but there were a lot of people around already. The first thing that I had to do is to register myself.

According to one of the Singapore local newspaper report, about 2000 students would be having their graduation ceremony here.

Upon registration, I received these. A card with my name and bar code labeled on it. The bar code was used later when I walked up the stage. I was also given a small gift, it was a customized photo frame.

Then I have to queue up to collect my graduation gown.

Their timing is very precise. We were seated before the event started. This is the hall.

When it was 10.30am, those “important people” came in and we had to stand up to welcome them. After that, all of us stand still and the Singapore national anthem was being played.

After those heads giving speech, it was time for us to wait in the queue for our ceremony. Finally it was time for me to walk on stage. Receiving my “scroll”. Nah, inside doesn’t contain my real certificate but a piece of paper verify that I’ve graduated and attended the graduation ceremony 2007. I still don’t know when I can receive my certificate. Perhaps by next year Jan 2008?

Still remember the card with bar code? Before going up the stage, I passed my card to the staff there and they scanned it with the bar code reader. My name appeared on the screen and my name was being called before I walked up to the stage.

After the ceremony, light refreshment was served. I took this opportunity to take a picture with my university representative – the guy who handed my “scroll” to me.

After that, took some pictures outside the building with my family. Camwhoring with Cherry.

The individual photo taken by the professional was not on the spot. So, after the event, we quickly went to the studio which is located in Albert Court. No photo taking is allowed inside the studio, so I didn’t take any.

It was really a tiring day.
