After checking out at the immigration counter in Changi Airport, it was around 12.55pm in the afternoon. We used the cab to go to Hotel Grand Central (大中酒店) which is located in Orchard Road. It took about 20 minutes to reach our hotel.

This is some sort of budget hotel and I don’t think there’s any attractive decoration so I didn’t take any pictures of the interior, except for the place I connected to the Internet. (Will review in the future post)
We took our luggages to the room, took a bath, rest for the little while..then started our tour around the city. Our first destination is Chinatown or Gu Chia Zui (牛车水).

It was a fine day and a very hot afternoon…
Here’s a Chinese-looking building. Didn’t take a close look to it, so I don’t know what its name. It’s huge and hard to capture the whole building.

Chinatown covers a big area, and this is only part of it. A lot of tourists, a lot of attractive things being sold.

The shophouses here is very unique. One good impression is, although it’s a busy street, it still look so clean, I mean it’s nearly LITTER FREE.

I saw these cute paintings on the wall. Did you notice there’s a guy holding a big camcorder? Yea, he is a cameraman.

What did the cameraman do in the middle of the street in such a hot day? Oh, he was recording for a TV program I suppose. See? A bunch of kids in school uniform running towards someone…

The girl in yellow is the host. She followed the kids. I think it was a contest among groups of school children. Because I saw another group of kids with different school uniform approached me and asked me question while I thought I could slipped away~

Kid: Aunty, 你要参加我们的猜成语游戏吗?
(Translate: Aunty, do you want to participate in our guessing Chinese proverb game?)
Me: Err…不要啦..
(Translate: Err…don’t want lah)
Kid: 可以啦…帮帮忙.
(Translate: can lah..please help us)
Me: oh…okay.
The kid started to do some “sign language” and waiting for me to guess the 4-word-proverb.
Me: *looking at her sign language and try to guess word by word* 天 - 高 - 地 - 远 (tian gao di yuan)

Host: 最后一个字,再猜..
(Translate: the last word, guess again)
Me: *I was nervous actually. There’s no such proverb as “tian gao di yuan”. Then I quickly thought back what I had said…then I knew I was wrong and said out the correct answer straight away* 天高地厚 (tian gao di hou - meaning: profound)
Host: 答对了,谢谢!
(Translate: Correct, thank you!)
So, that was for some sort of TV program? You mean I will be on TV in the Singapore TV channel? LOL and do I look so old for you to call me “aunty”? =.=
By the way, I was in TV this morning around 10.30am in TV1 for just a few seconds I think. haha.. (Malaysia local channel)
There are really a lot of things to buy here. If you are a Singaporean or working in Singapore, those things can be considered as cheap, really. I saw some funny T-shirts like FBI stands for Female Body Inspector..and many more, but only manage to take this pic:

Even this handbag is cute…

I didn’t buy many things but this stall really stunt me. SO many cute handmade clay models…

I bought 2 cookie jars with clay cookies inside. Will post this some time later.
And look at these “food”, they look so delicious.

It was a hot weather. Let’s have some ice-cream.
Rum & Raisin ice-cream - S$1.90
Simply delicious~~ yummy

This is a view from top of Chinatown.

There’s an MRT station here too. So we decided to have a look.

Look at the tiles..there’s some Chinese characters. Unique.

And this is what we saw on the wall…

And the English version..

Walking around sure made us hungry…we went to have late lunch after that.
Check it out in the next post.

@Tyna,
Around S$130 per day, it’s quite a good deal because its located in the famous Orchard Road.
@Renge,
haha…the price is reasonable if and only if you earn Singapore dollar. I bought 2, cost me S$4 each, therefore S$8. (8 x 2.32 = RM18.56) =.=
