Let Your Blog Snows..

Christmas is around the corner. Buildings and streets are full of Christmas decoration. How about….make it snow in your very own blog? Yup, like the one you see here… Interested?

All you need is to paste a javascript code into your blog HTML/XML editor and edit the snowflake image link. Meaning, you will have to get your own snowflake image and host it yourself in site such as Photobucket or any other similar services.

Download the snow effect script here. (right click save as)

Steps:

  1. Get ready your snowflake image link if you have your own snowflake image. (snow.gif)
  2. Download the script (image link provided). Replace the image link (var snowsrc) with “YOUR SNOW IMAGE LINK” (eg. http://yourblog.com/snow.gif) if you want to put up your own snowflake image.
  3. Copy and paste the above code into your blog HTML Editor, place it anywhere between the <body> </body> tag.
  4. Save and you’re done.

Note: Your image recommended to be in transparent background and 24 x 24 in pixel and name your image as snow.gif.

For Wordpress blog, you may want to paste the code into your header.php, right after the <body> tag.

For Blogger (blogspot), you have to be using the classic template in order to use this code. Place the code anywhere between the <body> </body> tag.

if you don’t like to trouble of looking of snowflake images, you can use mine instead. My snowflake image link is

Have fun~ If you have any questions, please ask in the comment.

    @flux,
    Thanks for testing out. I think I should have missed out something when I pasted the code here. So, I’ve uploaded a tested working script for download. Use that one instead. Make sure your blogger template is showing “Template” (Classic template)in the dashboard instead of “Layout”. Just need to paste the code right after the tag. Please let me know if you still have problems. ^^

  • Apple says:

    @Renge,
    you can temporarily revert to classic template and after you X’mas you can change back to XML. But remember to backup your current template.

    @curryegg,
    My pleasure. ^^

    Saw your complaints about your hosting firm. Maybe you wanna consider bluehost.com (low cost) , or and westhost.com (for VPS).

    I am using VPS. Google ‘Virtual private server’ to understand the technology.

    I see you are with a Malaysian company now. I am not sure about the quality of Malaysian hosting firms. I have been with U.S firm since the first day. Hope these help.

    Cheers,
    Gav

    @Gav,
    Thanks for the information. Yes, I have my blog hosted in a Malaysia server. I would love to use a US server however it will be less convenient when come to payment issue.

    @cHrIstInA_YY,
    You’re welcome.

    @♥GLADYS公主♥,
    You’re welcome. I’ve seen the snow in your blog ^^

    The snow script is nice but not suitable for XML blogger/blogspot. If you which to stick to the XML blogger and still want an X’mas theme, you can visit here.

    Apple, your blog template really nice!! How you do it until fantastic? Can teach me some or not? This snow i really like it!! Thanks!!

  • Apple says:

    @GenYong,
    Thanks. I’m glad you like my blog theme. Actually I just pick a layout that I think is nice and start modifying it. for eg, the header, footer, sidebars etc.. I use Photoshop for any image modification, the rest are codes (such as link colors).

  • wow, this is so cool! thanks for the tutorial =D

    Hi! OK well i don’t know what a “classic template” is, and where to find it. and every time i put your code in between the tags, it says that it cannot do it….i was wondering if maybe you can make yours into a “code plug-in?” much like this one:

    http://snow-effect.googlecode.com/files/snow.js

  • Apple says:

    You’re all welcome.

    @Max,
    To know weather you are using a classic template, look at your Blogger dashboard and see if it’s “Layout” or “Template”.

    Layout = new Blogger (formerly known as Beta Blogger)

    Template = classic template, doesn’t support the drag and drop layout arrangement feature.

    You can actually find other code that ends with “.js” (which is actually javascript) and embedded to your site using the “script” tag.
