When you don’t know what to eat, or you are simply too lazy to cook, you probably will think of cooking a bowl of instant noodles. Your meal will be just ready in 3 minutes time. Simple and nice. Some of you even add in eggs or veggie for better taste.
The question is: Are you cooking the instant noodles the correct way? What is called the “correct” way of cooking a packet of instant noodles? Don’t we just have to boil the water and put the noodles and ingredient inside and wait for 3 minutes? That’s what you are wondering.
I found this article on the instruction of cooking instant noodles and would love to share with all of you.
The correct way to cook instant noodles without harming our bodies and health. Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the seasoning and let it cook for around 3 minutes and then ready to eat.
This is the WRONG method of cooking the instant noodles.
By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients with the seasoning, normally with MSG (Ajinomoto) , the molecular structures of the MSG will changed, causing it to be toxic.
The other thing that you may or may not realized is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have taken the noodles.
CORRECT method , which you may or may not know, is to cook the noodles this way :
- Boil the noodles in a pot with water.
- Once the noodles is cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax.
- Boil another pot of water till boiling and put the noodles into the hot boiling water and then shut the fire.
- Only at this stage when the fire is off, and while the water is very hot, put the rest of the ingredients with the powder into the water, to make noodle soup.
- However, if you need dry noodles: Do steps 1 and 2. Then take out the noodles & add the ingredient with the seasoning and toss it to get dry noodles.
My Two Cents
This will definitely take more than 3 minutes to cook a packet of instant noodles now. I never know that the noodles is coated with “wax”! Maybe I should check it out next time.

I spend more time on noodles. First, I’ll make sure the water is boiling hot before putting in the noodles. You will see a lot of bubbles almost immediately if you use maximum fire. After around 1 minute, filter the water away from the noodles then immediately rinse it with cool water. This will preserve the elasticity of the noodles. Meanwhile boil another pot of hot water and put the noodles back into the pot, this time for another 1 or 2 minutes then pour the water away and put the noodles aside. Next prepare a new pot of water for the soup ingredients only. Walah, I’m done with the cooking.
Well, the organic wax is indeed found in almost every type of instant noodles. The problem is even if you do what I do, you will still be eating some wax residual. So my recommendation is that do not consume more than 3 times in a week since your body will be working hard to metabolize the wax and discharge it.
You will notice the difference between a person who seldom take instant noodles and a person who take instant noodles all the time for a long period. The skin complexion of the latter will be yellowish. If your friends tell you that you look “yellow”, you should stop eating instant noodles. =)

2- it defeats the purpose of instant noodles
