Yahoo is Down?

Category: Tech Stuff

Woke up this morning, and do the very usual thing - checking my blog and email. When I was trying to check my Yahoo! Mail, my browser showed “The connection has timed out”. So, I thought it was my connection problem (since recently Streamyx - the ISP is not working very smooth in my area).

Then I tried to access my blog again - no problem. So I thought it was maybe a temporary down time at Yahoo!’s server. When I reached the office, I tried to access Yahoo! Mail again. It’s still the same. I even tried to access all Yahoo! related sites like MyblogLog, Flickr and even the Yahoo! search engine itself. All having the same result.

I tried to google about this issue but it seems like there’s no significant answers at the moment. My conclusion is - Yahoo!’s server is down. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Is it me or what? Anyone of you having the same experience?

Update: It’s 10.35am. I checked my blog and saw the MyBlogLog avatar widget is available. So I tried to access Yahoo! Mail. It’s back up again. Every Yahoo! related site is fine when I use proxy to surf the net. Apparently, it has to be something wrong with the local ISP. Not Yahoo!’s fault.

Now, this is so sucks. When can streamyx be better? Or can other ISP serve us here in Kuching? Today’s connection is also very slow, especially connecting to international sites. So, maybe you would like to use a proxy to surf net.

Yahoo has multiple servers to serve their clients, when one server is faulty, it automatically switch to the other server. Same as Google, MSN…etc. many big companies.

So, you should never experience downtime for Yahoo.

However, I did experience service temporary unavailable for Gmail, but not server down problem as their web is still accessible.
