I really love movies with ancient plot, especially those that relate to the Chinese history. I have watched a few and decided to list out what movies to watch next - including those of old movies and upcoming new movies.
If you like history, war, ancient China, costume, fantasy and romance, you may want to check out the list below: (listed in year order)

Do you notice that out of 12 movies, 4 have Jet Li’s roles? Hehe..Jet Li is my favorite actor. I would love to watch “Three Kingdoms” and “Red Cliff” because they are using the story from the famous Chinese novel - Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Nice post!!! I have seen almost all the movies, some good, some not that good such as The Banquet and Curse of the Golden Flower! =.=” However, I really expect to see The Forbidden Kingdom!^_^

Really having high anticipation towards the upcoming The Forbidden Kingdom 功夫之王, Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon 三国志: 见龙卸甲 and Red Cliff 赤壁. Reason: I’m a fan of Jet Li, Jackie Chan and 三国志!!!!
Oh ya, if you study 三国志 further you’ll actually learn many wisdom and technique which could be used even in modern days…

Yes, I agree with you that not everyone can enjoy director Zhang YiMo’s movies. Just watched Curse of the Golden Flower last night, not as good as it seems to be. But at least I get to know another story. LOL. I just can’t wait to watch The Forbidden Kingdom.

among all the movies other than those which are going to be shown in cinemas soon, my favourite is The Myth. I don’t know why but the storyline leaves a very heavy impression in me. I just love the show. And yes, I think the Curse of the Golden Flower is not as good as I expected it to be. I was very disappointed when I watched the show. It’s just…not so nice.
I can’t wait to the Forbidden Kingdom too! With the huge superstars like Jet Li and Jackie Chan in one movie, must be quite a blast! Somemore these stars don’t simply choose movies and act!
