Memories Back in Ragnarok

Yesterday read about a post saying that Ragnarok Online (iRO, US server) is the worst server (Chaos server) ever. Memories of my gaming life flow back in my mind. Yes, Ragnarok Online (Malaysia server English version) is the first online game that kept me addicted for 2 years.

That time, Ragnarok Online, RO in short, was a very popular online game. Even it was not free that time (you need to purchase monthly card in order to access the game), there were always a lot of players hanging around in the game, especially during guild wars – peak hour!

I was really enjoying myself back then. Leveling and training together with my real life friends was so much fun. But good times don’t last long… as bots were everywhere and yes, we did bot too! The official servers were really very laggy almost every time. The drop rates and experience rates were too low either….

OrangeGetting frustrated at that time, I was introduced to a private RO server. I was really having great fun! An idea struck! I wanna make my own private server! Yes, private servers are illegals and guess what? I did make it. Well, that was 2 years ago…the server now is dead and forever remains in my memory.

In loving memory of Blue RO (bRO) my dear own private RO server… she is gone for good but I believe all her ex-players will remember her. That is also the place where I first met Orange. The picture to the left is Orange’s high wizard, my favorite character of all. Yes, a female GM admin, that’s me. (Nothing much to boast about anyway, it’s history now…)

What’s the main reason of closing down the server? The pictures explain all…


Burnt power supply.


Burnt switch too!!

Overheating of the power supply caused the disaster when I was not around. Luckily my parents were at home and managed to switch everything off. But many of my home applications were damaged because of this too. Therefore, I was forced to shut down my computer (server) whenever I was not around.

Last night, I trying to dig out all my official and private servers screenshots but very sad to say that only a few can be found. Memorable ones are all gone because I have reformatted my computer more than once and didn’t manage to backup those screenshots.

Luckily, I still have a copy of a collection of memorable screenshots taken by my server’s players. They even made a video out of it. *touched*

I’d tried to implement many custom things that were not found in the official servers. Succeed but didn’t last long as the server dies. You don’t have to try the links listed in the video because they are all dead by now.

RO has influenced my life in many ways, including my love life. What a memory…
