A.P.P.L.E

This is me and Orange. We haven’t post any recent photos of ourselves lately. Here is one. (Do I look slimmer a bit?)

For those who follow my blog for some time, you may feel curious of why I chose xiaoyenzi.com as my domain name. For first time visitors, you may feel very weird that A.P.P.L.E (or simply “apple”) and xiaoyenzi.com don’t share anything in common. Today, I would love to take this opportunity to have a brief explaination on this.

It is impossible for me to own a domain like apple.com (That’s Mac, I’m Human. :P) I was thinking hard when I wanted to purhase a domain name. (a dot com domain name is always the coolest!) I am using “xiaoyenzi” as my online identity for around 9 years, so it seems very natural for me to choose xiaoyenzi.com as my domain name (since it’s a blog with more personal touch).

In fact, there’s no such PinYin spelling as “yen“. Initially, I wanted to register an ID named xiaoyanzi but I accidentally made a typo 9 years ago!! Then, I stick to it until today. LOL. So my online identity actually means little swallow (a kind of bird). It’s actually the name of my favorite character in the Taiwan drama Huan Zhu Ge Ge (还珠格格 Princess HuanZhu)

This is Princess HuanZhu a.k.a xiaoyanzi. My favorite character. She is cute.

Xiaoyanzi is a naughty and lively character. Her stupidity changed her fate from a normal citizen to a princess…and the story goes on..

And what about Apple? Why named myself Apple? It’s my in game name since 6 years ago when I started my heavy online gaming life. Since then, I address myself as Apple rather than xiaoyenzi. (’xiaoyenzi’ seems really hard for non-Mandarin speaker to get the correct pronouciation)

Apple…apple..your boyfriend is Orange and your sister is Cherry? Frutie family? LOL..okay so you are doubting my name. Yes..and today Apple is going to reveal her real name….

Okay, that is an extract (I have highlighted some “important” points) from an online article from The Stars Youth2, regarding disposable chopsticks. I was being interviewed by reporter Phui Yee via email and the publication date of the article is on last Wednesday (23rd April 2008).

This article is to encourage people to stop using disposable chopsticks, however according to the comments left by my readers in my previous post, I found that most people don’t even care. LOL.
