Childhood

Category: Story

Do you still remember the good old days back during childhood time? Tell me, those of you who were born in the 80s or earlier…what was your favorite pass time? I believe that most kids cannot resist the swing sets available in the playground.

I loved the swing so much until Dad went to get one (plastic one, of course) for me and my sister. During free time, we would love to sit there and swing ourselves. You can see satisfaction and happiness on our faces. Other than going to the playground, my favorite past time is cycling. I could cycle around the neighbourhood in the early evening and didn’t want to take my dinner. My late grandma would then sit outside the house and fed me dinner.

That was my childhood. Until I started my secondary school life, that’s when I had fun more in front of the computer. However, I still find those days memorable.

Childhood of kids today is full of video games, computers and many high tech gadgets. Wonder if they know how to ride a bicycle or not.

What a big difference…

Thanks for writing about this, Apple. I miss my childhood time a lot. I loved playing at the playground. My favourite was the swing, followed by see-saw. :) But being the eldest, I had no siblings to play with at that time and I was a shy kid; I didn’t make friends easily. I didn’t have dolls because I was never interested in them. Instead, I asked my father to buy me a toy gun.

I guess kids nowadays are more interested in indoor games. Not all kids are like that, though. One of my younger cousins started playing pc games when he was about 8 and we’re talking games like Starcraft, which was a little too complicated for a boy his age. He plays outdoor too, swim in the river and play with his friends. I think balance is the key. ;) Sorry for my long-winding comment.

Yup, kids nowadays play pro games and even blog! I agree that balance is the key.

No worries. I love comments, long-winding ones are welcomed too.

swings are one of my favorites too !! during those times we were so carefree. even when we are indoors, the most we do was watching cartoons. it sure was a huge difference compared to now !! but honestly, technologies do make kids nowadays more “kiasu”. they had to own the latest technologies just because their friends had it. haha. i guess it’s the attitude difference compared to us back then.
    ;)
