Should You Do Paid Post?

Category: Blogging

As the title suggested, have you come across such question? This blog used to have a PR3, but after doing paid post for some time and right after Google update the PR system, this blog become a PR0 blog. A lot of advertising companies do not like PR0 blogs. They will no longer assign tasks to you when your blog got its PR penalized to 0. This is all my experience.

To overcome such problem, some advertising companies have its own way of ranking blogs and still continue to assign tasks to PR0 blogs. So, if you want to have a good PR, then you should stay away from doing paid post. But if you are good in building links, you still have a chance of having a good PR and yet still get paid for blogging.

Money is the root of evil. I always said that I’m underpaid. I really mean it. How much do you think a Bachelor’s degree holder should be paid? Looking at the amount decrease in all my savings accounts really gives me headache. That’s why I continue to let my dear blog suffer from PR lost.

Isn’t it pathetic?

    Well, I don’t know how much u should be paid in your field. But then have u heard of “starting low, hitting high?” So maybe you can be patient and wait for a golden opportunity, grab it and then “jump”. Haha..

    I haven’t even started earning my own money yet!!

    I don’t really care about the google PR anymore.. as long as I can still earn money from my blog! ;) I can see that my food blog is climbing the Google PR chart (no paid post - yet!), and my main blog, where I do the paid posts remains 0.

    Like you, I need the extra income too. What’s the use of Google PR if not for the ranking to make money? So yeah, money is NOT the root of evil, it’s definitely something that we need to get on with our life today…

    I’m with PayPerPost, and I think they also use IZEA ranks instead of Google’s PR. At least that’s a little more realistic.

    BTW, is your domain name from the TV series “Huan Zhu Ge Ge”?

    @ - c H i E n - ,
    That’s what I’m doing currently. Searching for better opportunity and off I go.

    @melbie,
    Yea melbie, unless we are enjoying financial freedom, or else we will keep on searching ways for extra income.

    @Miss Write,
    Google’s PR is important if you want to depends on it for traffic. Otherwise, you don’t have to bother too much :D And yes, my domain name is partially related to that drama, you can find out more here.

    @Deimos Tel`Arin,
    Yes. In fact I dislike to read paid post unless you can make it informative or at least interesting to read. Writting one is even harder. LOL..all for the sake of $$.

    How much can one earn from paid post? How much per post? How to get people pay you to do the post?

    For a bachelor degree in computer science, I think the basic salary should be RM1.8k. After 2-3 years of working experience, it should be RM2.3-2.5k. After 5 years and good in what he/she does, should get above RM3k. Apple, are you within what I listed above? :P

    @BlogMalaysia.com
    It depends on what sort of paid post you take. I normally get USD5 for each post. Sometimes USD10, really depends on the assignment and advertiser. To get such assignment, you can signup for those pay to blog company, or if you are really good enough, you can get private advertisers.

    Sorry to disappoint you, KhoKing. I am non of the above which you have listed. Since this is my blog and I think I have nothing to hide. You can judge for yourself if I am underpaid. I get RM1k each month (before salary increment). After 1 year, the management only give RM50 increment. Now with the fuel price hike, RM50 increment is like nothing at all.

    Hi Apple,

    I think you are definitely being under paid, for what you worth. Or, perhaps the company doesn’t really know what to get from you, not using what you are capable of delivering.

    RM1k is very very low and can hardly survive nowadays. Miri living expenses is very high nowadays, RM1k is really little I must say.

    I am sure there are better opportunity waiting for you in front, perhaps we can work together in future. I will let you know when the right time comes. ;)
