Rakutei Japanese Restaurant

Category: Food and Drinks

When I was still working at Crown Tower early last year, the management of Crown Square (which is just next to Crown Tower) was planning some changes. And that’s the first time I get to know about Rakutei when it was still undergoing renovation work before the opening. After I quited my previous job, I have forgotten about this Japanese restaurant until I saw a post entry in PeiHau’s blog. Since then, I always wanted to try dining there. Only until last 2 weeks, I got the chance to satisfy my taste bud in Rakutei.

Japanese food is always so beautiful…

And so tempting…

Even in the fake non-edible form.

Okay, enough of those fake ones. These models are placed outside the restaurant for display and decorating purposes. So how is this Japanese restaurant look like?

Check out the signboard. This is where I dined and the following will be some photos that can kill a hungry stomach. (I’ve warned you :P)

This is the interior. (Note: This photo is not taken by me, it’s a scanned copy from My Privilege Book)

The environment and setting is really soothing.

This is one of the menus.

And this is their new menu with promotion items.

The main chef of Rakutei is Mr. Sky Sung (宋振华). He learned Japanese cooking in Japan for 15 years. After Rakutei employed Mr. Sung, he has been introducing a lot of modern and tasty Japanese food, which is suitable for all ages.

This is what I mean! Not old and never-changing style, but new ideas like this dish. It is specially designed this way to suit the football season.

I can’t remember all the dishes names, so bare with me and enjoy the photos, okay?

This ramen taste very nice, especially with the deep fried fish slice.

How can we miss out sushi in a Japanese restaurant?

Potato salad, comes in with the set meal. Nutritious and delicious.

A typical set meal looks something like this:

Fish~

This taste really good!

I don’t know what is this called. It’s a mixture of ingredients and ramen, serve in cold.

Chicken~ Oh, by the way, this is a PORK FREE (no pork served) Japanese restaurant.

Sashimi, if you like the raw food..

With the fuel price increase, food especially rice, increase price too! But in Rakutei, you will still get to enjoy imported rice from Japan. So, treasure it and finish up the rice, will you?

Okay, this side dish or snack, is something I would highly recommend to those who plan to dine in Rakutei. Fried Sandwich Ice Cream at the price of RM3. It’s not oily like those who have during Kuching Food Fair (fried ice cream). And look, it’s really filled with ice cream.

It’s nice to eat all these food with hot Japanese tea, but I chose to something for refreshing like the lime juice.

My Privilege Book members (use My Privilege Card) can enjoy 15% discount with terms and conditions applied. However, you can apply for Ratukei’s member card known as the V-Card at RM10, and enjoy a 10% discount.

Japanese food always give people a feeling of luxury or in other words, expensive. However, now you can spend as low as RM15 and above to dine in Rakutei to satisfy your taste bud. Sound like a great deal, right?

Rakutei Japanese Restaurant
Location: No.88, Grd Floor, Crown Square Shopping Centre, Jalan Pending, 93450 Kuching
Opening Hour: 11am to 10pm
Contact No: 082-346612

My Two Cents

It’s a great dining experience in Rakutei. The food is really satisfying. The environment is kinda dim, so it was rather difficult to take good photos. So the above photos involved heavy post-editting.
