Handmade Kolo Mee

Category: Food and Drinks

The increase of fuel price affects other things to increase price as well, especially food. The food in Kuching, in compare to those big cities in West Malaysia, is much more cheaper. But sooner or later, the food here will become more and more expensive. A bowl of kolo mee used to be RM1.50. Slowly increased to RM2.00 - RM2.20. Now, you CANNOT find any kolo mee stall selling kolo mee at the price below RM2.50.

Yea, you heard me. Now, a bowl of kolo mee is at least RM2.50. I ever ate a plain (only a few fish slice and roasted pork) bowl of kolo mee that cost me RM3!! (that’s really overpriced, not like they are adding abalone) But there’s still one place that serve delicious kolo mee, good in quantity and quality. It’s at the upper level of the 3rd Mile wet market.

One day I ordered a bowl of handmade kolo mee (notice the shape of the noodle is slightly flat) and a cup of fresh soya bean, all together only cost me RM3.50; RM2.50 for the kolo mee and RM1.00 for the soya bean drink.

So Kuching folks, if you want to eat something that can make you full and pay less, go to 3rd Mile wet market food stall…hehe

Wow.. RM2.50 for a bowl of kolo mee is still cheap! Here in JB, there is a Chinese Muslim who runs a stall selling char mee, kolo mee and sabau mee.

Just this morning I had char mee for breakfast. It cost RM4 per bowl. Comparatively more expensive, I guess, but I’m not complaining. The mee was delicious.
