Mid Autumn Festival

Category: Event

Mid Autumn Festival, also known as Mooncake festival falls on 15th August of the Lunar calendar every year. Today is Mid Autumn Festival. Typical Chinese family will be celebrating this day by eating mooncakes, having reunion family dinner, as well as walking around with paper lanterns!

Last night, Orange and I were invited by a friend of ours, namely Patrick, to a mooncake festival party like what we did last year. No BBQ for this year, food and drinks were simple yet delicious. After having our meal like macaroni, sausage salad, mooncakes, etc….we went out the house to lid the lanterns.

The guys were doing the preparation. Well, there were only 2 girls at the party.

You have to be extra caution when lighting the latern, it’s hot!!

Wanna see who were the guys playing around with the laterns? Here they are. These are Patrick’s friends. (sorry for the blur picture, my hands were not stable.)

It’s beautiful to watch the lanterns glow in the dark!

More lanterns…

And this was how it look like when a bunch of kids playing in the dark with lanterns in their hands~

I didn’t take any food picture this time, but I have to mention that this drink, made by Patrick, was great! The decoration is beautiful too!

13th is our anniversary date, so we didn’t forget to snap a photo together ^_^

Life is busy lately. I didn’t buy any mooncakes by my own like what I did last year, nor visit the Mooncake festival exhibition.

Do you know there are several stories and myths behind this festival? For instance, story about Chang’e, the Jade rabbit and the man in the moon.
