Customer is Always Right?
Posted on Jan 01 in Life Logby ApplePrint

Recently, I feel kinda tired of my job. I rather not use the word “stress” as no matter what you do, there should be certain stress applicable. I have plenty of things to do and it seems like working 8 hours a day also cannot finish my daily routine. Am I slacking on the web during office hour? Nah..you can easily track my online activities via my blog or even through my Facebook account. I am no longer active (in the blogosphere) during day time!!! Am I a dedicated employee? Nope, I’m left no choice. If I don’t get the job done, who the heck will give me a hand?
Why am I so tired? Actually my job is kinda easy. You don’t need to be a Bachelor’s degree holder to do my job! (Gosh…I’m so wasted
I sound boastful here, but think about it…) And recently come a number of “wise” customers which always thought that “customer is always right”. And most of the time, I categorized those people as “pro-noob”, someone who like to act pro which in fact is so empty.
This happened yesterday while a mid-age lady went to my office, complaining about her sd card. I found this incident really ridiculous and I don’t know how to show my expression. She brought along her Canon camera which bought around 2 years time, and complained that part of the pictures taken are blur…
Customer: The photos taken by this camera is blur. Look at these photos, the right side is quite blur. (taking a bunch of hardcopy photographs)
Staff: …
Customer: My friend said should be the SD card problem. That’s why I bought a new one but I haven’t open yet.
Staff: This mostly is the camera’s problem itself. Not the SD card.
Customer: It’s impossible! I’ve been using this camera for 2 years already.
Hello?! 2 years without a problem is your luck already. Things can spoiled when time flies.
The customer insisted is the SD card problem. No choice, to prove to the customer, my colleague used his own SD card and proved that it was the camera’s problem. It took more than 3o minutes to settle this lady. =.= Why was she there? Because she bought the SD card from our company but the camera was not bought from us. Therefore, she was advised to bring along camera to the shop she bought earlier.
OMFG?! SD card is just like any storage device..how can it affect the photo quality (blur output). The device ought to be in good condition before good quality photos can be produced and saved in storage device.
“Customer is always right” without common sense, sometimes!

I know it is frustrating if you meet such a customer but this is their rights, and sadly, this is what they pay you for. Imagine if your car breaks down (touch wood), and you donno anything about it. You go to the mechanic and said your friend told you it might be this n that problem. Then the mechanic said no, it’s not, is your car engine problem. Then you said, aiks, i used so long, all no problem wor.
It’s a very normal response. I don’t really blame the customer for it. True, there are some customers who like to act smart and become don’t make sense at all. haha. but well, again, this is their right.
At least you should be glad that the customer is not those kurang ajar who will shout at you in front of everyone due to his/her own stupidity.
The phrase to an extent is quite true. In the strict business sense, offending them means saying good bye to another customer so I suppose sometimes there is just no choice but to tolerate these customers.
But on another note.. has she gone bonkers? sd card causing pictures to blur..? there is no logic..
@Renge,
I’ve came across quite an amount of cameras from brands like Canon, Sony and BenQ. It’s very obvious that it’s the device problem, not the SD card.
@LeeChien,
when she kept insist that it was the SD card problem, all of us in the department were like —> =__=|||
@Alvin,
I get your points. Let’s take the car breaks down case. I’m not an expertise in that area, maybe at first I will say that it’s another problem. But if the mechanic already tell me several times the real problem, I will convince myself and believe what the expert says. Actually I didn’t blog about the full story. When my colleague showed proof to this lady, she still kept insisting it was the SD card problem and didn’t want to listen to us.
Of course we didn’t shout or scold her in front. Just after she left, then we started to discuss about it.
Actually there are a few more stories about customers. Some even said wanna report police. =.=
@wombok,
You got the points too. Hehe..yea, you’re a photographer yourself, you should know how stupid it was to blame the SD card. LOL
