The Precious SDRAM

The SDRAM I’m preferring here is not the general “Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory” but Single Data Rate SDRAM (I’ll call it SDR in short), which was used many years ago. Nowadays, we use DDRII or even DDRIII. (Double Data Rate). It’s so hard to find SDR in the market nowadays!

Do you still remember the 192MB RAM in my office computer? Yea, that is an SDRAM which really slows down my performance. Think about it: A computer which runs on Windows XP has only 192MB of RAM!!! I’ve been suffering from slow computer respond for several months which always makes me feel that my old desktop and laptop back at home is so much faster!!

SD-RAM

So, yesterday morning once I reached the office, I unplug the 64MB RAM and insert with this 128MB SDRAM. So now, at least there’s 256MB of RAM. (Initially 192MB consists of a 64MB and 128MB)

I call this the precious SDRAM, because I never thought I can get another RAM like this again! Fortunate enough, as my dad just bought a new PC (will talk about this later), and the remaining old parts were given to me. I found about that the motherboard is spoiled but at least the RAM is still in good shape and now it’s sitting nicely in my office computer.

Is it faster now? Yes, definitely. Now my office computer runs slightly smooth and takes lesser time to complete a task.

The Company ought to upgrade the facilities in the office so that its employees are able to work at ease. Every time after work, I feel so tired and actually not in good mood. Why?

  • 40% because of lousy facilities
  • 30% because of service centers / suppliers and customers
  • 30% because of the management

Am I complaining too much? But if work can be carried out fair and square, maybe I won’t feel that frustrated. I have lots of things to do everyday, how I wish someone could help  me out a little. Hey, please do not appoint me to do all the warranty registration. You need not special skills to do online warranty registration. Any staff in the Department can do it, not specifically me, right? Not like I’m so free can play Facebook all the time during office hour. Slacking in the office for sometime is okay, but not whole day.

Maybe you have forgotten what the things I have to do. Here’s a reminder:

  • Editing service advice, add warranty status, etc..
  • Arrange items to be sent for warranty claims.
  • Filling. (everyone does that)
  • Call HP Toll Free to load case for HP products. (which I thought it’s the job of the person in charge of KL site)
  • Registering notebook’s warranty of brands like Acer, Toshiba, HP.
  • Arranging warranty cards and key in customer info (this takes hell lot of time to complete).
  • Sometimes have to write email to settle some cases.

Well, after listing it out, it seems that my job is not much. But once it comes in quantity…and imagine with one person doing all those with a super duper slow computer….

That left me no choice but to digg out my own RAM to enhance the computer’s speed.  Oh, nearly forget to mention about the LCD monitor I’m using now. It’s belong to my colleague. Hello? Not like I’m asking for an expensive rackmount monitor or what. My monitor spoiled for almost one month and no replacement yet. What if the LCD monitor that I’m using now does not even exist?

p/s: Whenever I do a ranting post I can’t stop myself. >< Sorry about that and thanks for reading. I feel much better after “speaking” all these out.
