Newspaper has censorship. Now this thing happened to my sister and I want to voice out my anger and opinion. So sorry, if you make a blogger angry this is what happen to you – your name spoiled. I think Swinburne University’s name is worth more than RM2000! And I wanna make a correction on what have been reported in the newspaper.

Hello?! Cherry is not an Indonesian university student. She is born and raised locally in Kuching with a Malaysian citizenship.

Swinburne University (Sarawak Campus) can be considered as a big university in Kuching. You can always see security guards around the buildings. The school is just located in the city and just opposite tHe Spring. However there were no security guards around the open air cafeteria and the other building at the back.

Open air cafeteria (aka new cafeteria) and a view of tHe Spring

Monday morning (9th Feb), while I was in the office, Cherry called me and told me her notebook had a little problem like Windows lagging and said if she couldn’t fix the problem, she would have to let me check. After approximately one hour later, she called again. This time crying like hell and I couldn’t understand a single word coming out from her mouth. Then she passed her cellphone over to her friend and let the friend told me what had happened.

“Cherry’s notebook has been stolen!!”

“WHAT?! How could that happen???!?!?!!”

Yes, Cherry’s brand new Toshiba L310-P401 notebook which only bought for 10 days was snatched by a stupid fucking black-skinned guy. (not to be racist, but that’s the only appearance description I know) And this happened IN the university campus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Date: 9th February 2009
Time: approximately 11am
Location: Swinburne University Cafeteria
Incident: Notebook snatched by anonymous
Victim: Cherry (click here to read the story from her point of view)
2nd Victim: Toshiba L310-P401 notebook (silver), Serial number: X8046441W

This is the location (see pic below) where the snatching began. Cherry sat somewhere in the middle, but was sitting at the corner of the table. The bastard walked behind her and snatched away her notebook and run like there was no tomorrow. Before the notebook was snatched, Cherry was still using it!!!!

We suspect the bastard came into the campus compound from this opening. According to someone, this gate was meant to facilitate constructors to bring the raw materials in and out. Then, students request this gate to be open to make it more convenience for them to go to tHe Spring. No security, no CCTV, no anything. Just an opening for anyone to go in and out the campus.

The bastard grabbed Cherry’s notebook and ran to the other block which no guards were around. And Jump up the high fence after that rode bike and gone for good. That fence doesn’t even belong to Swinburne. We initially thought that this bastard had some kind of Qing Gong 轻功. But later we found out that there are 2 rocks compiled to act as a ladder which can easily climbed up. It’s believe that the rock were set up by students.

Okay. I suspect the bastard is someone from the campus or at least a guy who have been to the campus several times. Don’t tell me the first time you step into the campus, you already know that there are “ladder rocks” that allow you to climb up to the high wall/fence!

A comlaint letter has been submitted but I don’t know if the management will take any action to solve this serious problem. Now Cherry is suffering mentally. She can’t sleep tight and everytime she closed her eyes, she will think of the crime scene. How can a big campus like this allow such thing to happen?

Now a notebook that worth RM2000 just gone like this! Who’s gonna take responsibility? I don’t think the schol even give a damn on this matter. Things gone still fine, what if the bastard had knife equipped and threaten students? Think about that, Swinburne management!

Kuching is getting bad nowadays. Thanks to the government’s open policy of allowing too many foreigners students and workers alike. The African students (note: not being racist) are creating troubles everywhere. They too become a problem at our housing area. In the evening after they play football at the field in front of our house, they would simply enter any of the houses there to drink from the pipe or to wash themselves. Nowadays, my mom would lock the gate in the evening to prevent them from entering the house.

This unlucky incident could have been prevented if Cherry lock her laptop using the Kensington lock when in public places. I always expect this kind of thing can easily happen in public places.

    Hope she’s ok now.

Well, how on earth I know that my campus is that unsecure!! What I though was, I was in the campus, I’m gonna be safe. =.=

Yes, I’ll buy the lock once I bought a new baby.

This is soooo sad :( I’m sorry that your sister had to go through something like that.

Years ago Someone stole my bag right off of my shoulder ; ; I remember not too much since it happened so fast. I can recall that I almost got knocked down the stairs as he pulled the bag from me and I grabbed the rail to hold my balance.

It’s hard to trust people after something like that. But it makes you more cautious. But still it’s sad. Because no one has a right to take anything from you.

Kind of makes me mad really. I mean where I live I have to be completely careful. The crime rate is very high here. But also it’s sad because these people who commit the crimes, should be punished but most are never caught :(

And with the situation with your sister. That’s sad because it’s honestly not her fault. The campus should have security, Some guy got on campus and targeted her. The campus should prevent these kind of things. Unfortunately this happened and now they might finally take precautions.

Might not be today, & might not be tomorrow. But I believe what comes around will go around. And whoever did this to your sister, will get paid back.

    Anyhow I hope she’s okay
