Happy Mid Autumn Festival

Today is Mid Autumn Festival a.k.a Mooncake Festival or Lantern Festival. It is another important occasion another than the Chinese New Year for the Chinese. It’s a time for family reunion. Why do people celebrate Mid Autumn Festival? It has many versions of story behind including interesting mythologies.

The most exciting part of the entire festival is watching colorful lanterns glowing in the dark! When I was a small kid, I love to hold the paper lantern and walked along the road with neighbor’s kids. It was fun back then. Now, I prefer watching and snapping photos.  Eventhough I’m not what pro photographers with DSLR, I just love to snap photos and those will be my part of my memory archives.

Since it’s also known as the Mooncake Festival, how can we celebrate the festival without eating mooncake?

Mooncakes are Chinese cake with sweet paste. Nowadays, comes in many flavors!

Now we even have jelly mooncake.

Mooncake is sweet, so the best beverage to drink along with mooncake is a cup of hot Chinese tea. The tea taste can just neutralize the sweetness from those good-looking mooncakes.

Tonight, I’m going to a mooncake festival party like the previous year, but this time it’s will be held at Patrick‘s place. Hope this time it will be more fun as previously we had our party few days before the actual festival. Today, we can celebrate on the actual day!

Just can’t wait for the sun goes down and watch the yellow big round moon.

Stay tune for updates about the upcoming party ^_^ (And my “secrets” of enjoying sweet food when I’m going on my slimming project.)

A mooncake festival without family reunion dinner.  Parents have their own activities, whereas we will be having fun with friends.  It’s the first time! Cool. Do you celebrate this festival? How will you celebrate? There are many activities going on at major shopping malls like tHe Spring and Boulevard. Are you (for those in Kuching) going to attend?
