Car Noob!

The previous night, or should I say earlier morning of 22nd Dec, when I decided to go home around 12.30am, my car just wouldn’t start. When I started the car, the alarm was triggered for a short time for the first few times. Then, whenever I wanted to start the car, it sounded like starter problem. Later I learned that the alarm alert means something wrong with the car battery.

It was late and I thought I might just stuck at Orange‘s place since my car broke down. My friend, aka housemate/colleague, who is pro with automobile stuff was not in that time. Just when I was thinking where to seek for help, Dad called.

“What time is it now? Still don’t wanna go home?!”

As usual, I was scolded over the phone for my late return. Then I explained that I wasn’t able to start the car. Okay, of course I got scolded once again for this as why I didn’t inform and seek for help earlier. I just kept quiet. At last, Dad came to the rescue.

I actually feel very grateful and touched. But it’s just so hard to say a sincere “thank you” verbally face to face. If Dad happened to read my blog some how some where (which probably won’t), I just wanna let him know that I’m happy for his help and I understand that all his “scolding” is just for my own good.

Yesterday morning, Dad accompany me to the car repair shop and changed the car battery to a maintenance free battery. Later I learned that, even a maintenance free battery, you still can refill the battery water, the automobile pro friend told me so.

This battery cost me RM170.00 and comes with a 12-month warranty. I’m broke at the moment, so I owe Dad again.

Time for me to learn some basic troubleshooting for cars. Although it’s not my thing, I am driving every day and I guess I ought to know some basics for own sake!
