Experiencing 1 Day University Life
Posted on Mar 30 in Life Logby ApplePrint

It was planned before hand that I would go to Cherry‘s school today, to observe how a University life is like. I completed my Bachelor’s degree via online campus, and during college life (the college I went is no longer existed), it was like going to a shop lot building with lots of classrooms, that’s all.
Today is also the first time I on leave (a paid one, of course) in the year 2010. I rarely on leave, most of the time I on leave for some purposes to settle things. But today, I on leave just for the sake of on leave – have fun, enjoy the unlimited Internet access at home! (We currently don’t have Internet access in the company, so LAME)

This morning, I went to Swinburne.

The school compound is really huge. I mean, that’s how it feels like to be in a campus with lots of students from different places around the world.
Going to class with Cherry. Do I look like a student? wakaka…

Cherry takes design courses. Today her class is about “Introduction to Communition Design“. I don’t even know what does that really mean!
It was a 3-hour-class in the design studio.

The class (number of students) is kinda small and they were mostly quiet. Except for Cherry and her friend, Cally.

It’s fun to watch what they were doing. It didn’t feel like attending class when I sat there. It feels more like attending art class tuition.

Cherry was drawing some objects for her “mark” assignment, or whatever they call it.

This “mark” thing requires student to draw and cut out the template and fill / stamp it with black calligraphy ink.

It looks just fun to play around with ideas.

Design course actually give you more opportunity to expose yourself with different ideas and develop creativity.

This is a lecturer from Melbourne. Giving ideas to a student. She’s lucky.

By the way, looking out of the window, you can see tHe Spring shopping mall!

And this is the lecturer’s computer. It’s connected to the projector, so that sometimes slides can be shown directly from the computer. It’s a Dell running on Windows XP Professional.

Guess what they can do in Swinburne? Facebooking!! Yea, Facebook is a communication platform for lecturers and students other than their official virtual “Blackboard”.

Meanwhile, when I had nothing to do, I login to mobile Facebook since I didn’t join their “drawing session”, and the lecturer was not giving any lecture like the one I had during my college life – lecturers explaining all the theory stuff with examples given, from simple things like what is TCP/IP to System.out.println(“Hello, World!”); kind of stuff. (See the difference between computing and design?)

Also get the chance to visit the washroom. Took some self portrait here due to good lighting..haha

We also went to the cafeteria to fill up our hungry stomach since we didn’t have our breakfast.

It’s like a typical kopitiam you have in town. There’s a variety of food stalls for you to choose what you wanna eat. We bought some hotdog at RM2.70 each.

I ordered a Super Potato hotdog whereas Cherry had Twin Cheese hotdog.

This is me eating my hotdog.

It was a not-so-bad experience to “sneak” into one’s class when you are not even a student. Cherry’s classmate had guessed wrongly for my actual age. Even the lecturer still asked what program I am taking. I take that as a compliment ^^
It’s a crazy day, doing crazy things. What a wonderful leave day!!
I’ve actually thought of getting a master degree via online university, something like masters degree in information security or other I.T related masters. But when time fades, the urge to study become lesser and lesser and what I really want now is to learn how to earn more real cash!
