Hari Raya is a special occasion for Muslim as well as Malays. Before going to Damai beach for vacation, we (family and I) went to 2 Malay friends’ houses for the “raya visiting”. Malay people is good in baking cakes, especially their kuih lapis (layer cakes).

Very colorful and sweet.

This is the jelly layer cake.

Besides cakes, cookies and sweets were served too.

The most interesting part is, when you visit Malays during this festival, you are most likely to be served with rice, satay, curry and other Malay spicy food which taste really delicious. This is to show that they welcome their guests.

Did you visit your Muslim friends?
Are you hungry now?

Apple!
Can we have some cakes there? They look so yummy!
It is interesting how Raya can bring people together. Like how u who do not celebrate Raya would visit your Muslim friends. So Raya is never strictly meant for Muslims. It is meant for all who want to share this joyous occasion. =)
Great post Apple!

hahaha.. this is really funny, made me remember when i was in college, during kitchen practical class, my course mate very concentrated on what the chef said and took a small book to note down everything, the chef called her reporter from nanyang shang bao… hahaha…
