During Chinese new year, this dish is always served as an opening and it is an essential dish to have – Yee Sang.

Everyone used chopstick to mix the yee sang and wish everyone a prosperous new year.

Next, we have this steamed rice in lotus leaf.

The shark fin soup is a luxurious dish, and also a common dish during a gathering dinner like this.

Herbal Chicken, also known as “Beggar Chicken”.

Fish is also another symbolic dish during Chinese new year. We had steamed fish.

At last, we have some dessert.

It’s almost Dad’s birthday, so we celebrated it earlier.

We were all so full and it was a blissful dinner with family.

During new year eve (22nd Jan), my friends came to my house to have a steamboat reunion dinner. This is kinda cool, because before this, I never celebrate reunion dinner with friends!

Just like last year, I went to eat BBQ steamboat with a bunch of friends. We had steamboat at Swan Teem BBQ Steamboat 双天自助铁板火锅城. I didn’t eat much as I easily get full when eating steamboat. It was glad to gather with friends at end of the year.

Let’s see what kind of new year resolutions I have this year:

1. Keep fit. I wanna get back in shape!! I want to continue my Slimming Project.
2. Focus more on my blogs as much as I spent time on Facebook.
3. Figure out how to increase my online revenue.
4. Get a baking oven. I wanna learn and have fun with baking. [one of my new year resolutions from year 2010 which I did not achieve.]
5. Hangout more with my Canon G11.

I really hope I can achieve all of them this year!

By the way, today is also A.P.P.L.E’s 5th year anniversary. Oh wow! I’ve been in the blogging community for 5 years, yet my blog has not reach 1000 blog posts. It’s time to move on.

My Two Cents:

I have not visited any local ICT fair since I started working in computer retailer shop. I have to stay in office, working full shift during the fair season. People might think that price might not drop much, or think that there ain’t much new stuff. Well, you gotta be there to find out for yourselves. Technology is moving in a rapid phase, so be sure to be there to grab some gadgets during offers or promos available. For Kuching region, the location is not Permata car park this time. So, it’s a great opportunity for you to visit the BCCK.

Almost every year the Christmas tree decoration at my house is more or less the same (red + blue theme).

This look so holy. The beliefs are for the family. By the way, I’m agnostic and open-minded.

During Christmas eve, everything had been setup and ready for the next day buffet-style open house.

There was an open house session during Christmas day. Relatives and friends were invited to join the event.

The S.O.X. ALL-STARS HOOPS is a 5-on-5 basketball tournament with teams from various schools in Malaysia competing for the title of champion. Filled with awesome skills and moves, the competition is a treat for basketball fans! And the entire event is fully sponsored by Celcom.

Last year’s All-Stars hoops event was a success. Here are some photos for the past event.

Okay, back to the present. The S.O.X All-Stars Hoops final will be held on this coming 31st July 2011, featuring 16 high school basketball teams across Malaysia for the championship. Before the final, 4 teams will be chosen from each conference.

The 4 conferences are:

Eastern Conference – held in Kuching on 3rd July 2011.
Central Conference – hled in Kuala Lumpur on 16th July 2011.
Southern Conference – held in Melaka on 17th July 2011.
Northern Conference – held in Ipoh on 23rd July 2011.

Prizes for this 5-on-5 tournament is attractive as well.

1st runner up: RM3000
2nd runner up: RM2000
3rd runner up: RM500
MVP: RM500
Special skill challenge: Goodies bag worth RM1000
All-Stars challenge: Goodies bag worth RM300 for each player

The Eastern Conference was held on last Sunday, 3rd July 2011 at Stadium MBKS, Kuching. There are 16 participating teams from various high schools. They are:

6. SMK St. Joseph
7. Townian
8. SMK Petra Jaya
9. SMK Kuching High

15. SMK Sains Kuching

All participants are under 18. Just like the Celcom XPAX promo for students.

A booth was set up outside the stadium. Those who reload their XPAX telco number is eligible to participate in the mini game. Every RM5 reload, a voucher will be given.

Voucher holder can choose to play the mini game – either to shoot the ball into the hoop…

If you get one ball, a mouse pad will be given as the prize.
If you get three balls in a row, a jacket will be given as the prize.

Or to virtually shoot the ball into the ring via the XBOX console.

Results will only be released on of the day during the event. Prizes will be given out to the winner as well.

Okay, back in the stadium, we have 2 emcees providing live updates to the audience .

Judges were busy keeping track of the players’ scores.

Players gathered to discuss about strategy by their coaches.

Every moment is breathtaking.

After the preliminary matches, there was a hip-hop dance performance before the semi-finals.

The event was recorded by the media crew, just not to miss every wonderful moment.

This is the special skill challenge game. Selected players were given the chance to perform their skills.

3-point challenge: Players were to shoot in as many balls as possible at 5 different points within 1 minute. Winner for this challenge is Ho Boon Siew from Townian, 7 balls in one minute.

Skills challenge: Players were to run through obstacles and shoot the balls in every point set. Shorter time taken will be the winner. Winner for this challenge is Tong Yee Zhun from SMK Kuching High, 21 seconds to complete all points.

All-Stars games is all about forming a “dream team”. Players from different teams were selected by 2 coaches who observed their performance throughout the entire game. And they were to form 2 different teams and work out together to finish the match. It’s kinda interesting to see them caught up with each other while playing the game. Teamwork spirit can be spotted. Each of the player from the “dream team” will be given a goodies bag that worth RM300. It’s a good opportunity to encourage those teams who were not the winners in the semi-finals.

This year, I took not much photos on the food. I feel kinda guilty for not updating my blog for such a long time. For those of you who always come back to check for updates, sorry for not posting new stuff recently. Nail art is one of the new year favorites among girls. Cherry wanted to help me decorate my nails. I let her did so, but not fancy as it will not last long after I get back to work.

We had our family reunion dinner at home during new year eve. Today is actually the 15th day of Chinese new year, also the last day of Chinese new year, widely known as Chap Goh Meh.

During Chinese new year, most people will have Yee Sang during the reunion dinner. Dad passed a box of ingredients to me just now and asked me to eat it with my friends. Normally such things is eaten with the family members or at least more than 2 person.

Put all the ingredients together. This is for 10 person.  Ended up Cherry and I eating this, but we took half of the ingredient only.

When everything is mixed together, it looks like this.

Before the clock strike 12, I would like to wish everyone a very prosperous Chinese new year (although it’s a bit too late). But anyway, may health and wealth be at your side

I didn’t went to count down. Instead, on the way back home after having steamboat with a bunch of friends, I bought 3 cans of Tiger beer. Thought I can have fun at home alone in front my PC.

Merry Christmas…

This is me singing and wishing you a Merry Christmas and happy new year via Talking Tom for iPad.

Quickly dressed up, fetch Orange and drove all the way to Waterfront. On the way, we saw people in a very long queue!! It was only 6.30am.

And then I noticed something different from the information I got! Just look at this banner, it said starting from 6am!!! I thought it was 6.30am?! Check out Nestlé website~~

Lesson learnt: Do not 100% trust information from the Internet. Do check out information from local media like newspaper for local event…Dang! I reached at 6.30am means I was 30  minutes late…no wonder no free tees left for me

On the way queuing up for registration, we saw a lot of people in green t-shirts already!

Not forget to camwhore a while, although not looking good this morning. XD

Actually, we were kinda excited for the walk to start. We were ready~~

My FM is in Kuching now – the supporting media for this event.

After a long queue, it was nearly 7.30am…we were almost there at the registration counter.

Oh dear, how long did we need to wait?

The green t-shirts were given during registration. Too bad, we were late although we started queue at 6.30am..all the t-shirts were given out.

Because of these FREE T-SHIRTS, something embarrassing happened!! Yea, you saw the photo below…the table was pushed and fell off like after a fight.

A mid-age woman was nagging the officers for the free t-shirts after the announcement said that there were no  more giveaway t-shirts available. But then, someone (a guy who was also queuing up) remind her that there was still a box of t-shirts behind the counter. Then, they started arguing :S Maybe because someone got that t-shirt without queuing up? Not sure about the whole story. But ain’t we here for the exercise fun? NOT THE T-SHIRT…gosh. Lucky draw coupon was given to each registrant.  I have no idea what those people, who supposed to assist on the registration, were doing after the incident above. In the end, we just managed to get one coupon without registration.

The warming up session took quite some time. Everyone move around with the music in different languages. Here’s a video showing part of it.

Being a photographer is not easy, that’s why you don’t see my face in the video or photos of me posting around. After taking the video, I joined the rest.

After the warm up, everyone follow the lead. Walking in the main road to go to the ‘starting point’.

Damn, I looked really ugly here..well, who cares. Thanks Orange for helping me on snapping some of the photos.

This is something you don’t see everyday.

Starting from this point, the step counts. The event is to walk “2000 steps”.

And now we were walking along the riverside.

1500 steps…

With friends around, you won’t feel bored…and definitely have the time for posting.

We were almost there..

After the walk, free food and drinks were served. But you have to queue up~

This was when they were preparing.

However, we didn’t manage to eat this after the walk. Just too lazy to wait for another long queue.

I saw some delicious-looking food, probably for those VIPs.

But we were thirsty, so ended up queuing for drinks.

Meanwhile, there was event like on stage singing performance.

There was also lucky draw and selling of Nestlé products.

After the walk, we had drinks and left for breakfast instead. Just before leaving, I saw this..Selling balloons.

After having breakfast, we walked around the shops in the town. Bought some stuff and walked back to where I parked my car.

Great Scott! I knew it. If we could reach the car like 10 to 20 minutes earlier, I could have avoid this. Too many cars this morning, so I had to park my car at the yellow line…and this is what I got at the end. AND I DON’T HAVE THE T-SHIRT.

Summary: Mission half accomplished, considered FAIL. LOL.

To the organizer, if you happen to come across this blog post, I would like to suggest that next time, prepare more t-shirts and try to figure out a way to keep track on those people who actually got the t-shirt, really do participate in the walking event. As I saw some people get the t-shirt, and half way of the actual event, just ran away!! This is SO UNFAIR for those who waited in the long queue.
