Kuching Festival 2007 [Part 3]

Category: Event

Recently a bit busy at work, so can’t update my blog in the morning. Today, I’m going to continue on [Part 3] of the Kuching festival. Probably the last part, if I no go to the food fair again. However, today we will focus on the “Garden Show”. I also don’t know what is the purpose of this garden show. This year, the garden show seems very simple and really nothing very special about it.

This garden show is just located next to the food fair location. That evening after work, Orange and I went to the food fair (during the time of [Part 1]), then went to have a look at this garden show. We also saw several people brought their cameras, some do modeling and some don’t know want to do what, as we can see they carry the camera bag along with them.

That time, it was still early and bright. Here are some pictures that we took.

Garden Show Entrance
This is the entrance of the Garden Show.Waterfall
This waterfall is just near the entrance.

Fake Crane Statue
These 2 fake cranes are just at the waterfall.

Waterfall with pitcher plant
This is another man-made waterfall. Notice the big pitcher plant? It’s fake.

Crystal Clear
Crystal clear ‘river’. It’s actually the water from the pitcher plant waterfall…and very shallow. =.=

Shelter
Just a shelter there.

Stone with Carving
A stone with Chinese word carving. It’s about “Endure”.

Mini Architecture
I don’t know how to name this. It looks so Japanese. I like it!

Well, these are the photos that can be shown after filtering all the photos I took. Haha..anyway hope you enjoy them.

Kuching Festival 2007 [Part 2]

Category: Event, Food and Drinks

Hello guys! Are you coming back to check out for the [Part 2]? Sorry for the late updates because kinda busy this morning. Okay, so last night, I did actually went to the food fair again. Orange did most of the photographing. Haha, I think he enjoyed it. And guess what? The people from the Taiwan sausage stall asked us if we are putting those photos in blog, yes we do! They gave me their name card and I gave them my blog URL –> xiaoyenzi.com

So hey, if you (the Taiwan sausage guy) really come to visit my blog, please leave a message or comment here, so that I know you’ve been here. :P
Okay, photos time.

Cheese Hotdog + Ham
This is oily but taste great if you like cheese.

Satays and BBQ Hotdogs
We just took this pic without even trying.
Hmm..it’s blurry, don’t know why.

Taiwan Sausages again!

If you wonder where to eat this Taiwan sausage after the festival, you can visit their shop. I did a little design and information was extracted from their business card. (The following picture)

Fried Ice-Cream
It’s bread containing ice-cream inside, and deep fried to serve.
(see the fried ice-cream, not my boobs)

Forget its name, I think it’s Golden Money Bag or something?
It’s Thai food…the outside is crispy and inside is corn.

This caught my attention! It’s very interesting watching how this boss doing the Japanese pancake - Okonomiyaki. First time saw this and first time ate it! Simply delicious. Yum yum..

Okonomiyaki

“Candied Haw” or Bing Tang Hu Lu (冰糖葫芦)
This is a very common candy in Mainland China.
Haw is a type of fruit, or we call it SamZa in Hokkien.
Instead of using haw, they used grapes here!
So it’s a fruit stick coated with candies.
But I still miss the original candied haw back when I visited China.

Maki from Homemade Sushi
Oh gosh..RM2.50 for 6 pieces of small maki.
The taste..hmm..not sweet and not sour enough for me.
Still prefer my own sushi.

That’s all for part 2..
[Part 3] will be the garden show ^^
Stay tune.

Kuching Festival 2007 [Part 1]

Category: Event, Food and Drinks

This festival is celebrated every year in August, as to celebrate the declaration of Kuching as a city. The happening stuff such as parade, competitions, stage show, exhibition, food fair, etc…is held in the city, for the whole month. More information about Kuching festival, please read this. Yesterday Orange and I went to the food fair. We went there quite early, which was around 5.30pm (most people just started to prepare their food by that time) - right after my shift. I’m glad that Orange came and met me up and went to the Kuching food fair together.

Here, you can eat a lot of food that you normally won’t think of having. There’s a variety of food, local Malay food, Chinese food, Japanese food, Korean food, Thai food and even Pinoy food…Hey, it’s a food fair! This time, 5 out of 8 photos were taken by Orange. I like the angle he used to take photos. (I’m trying to unleash his talent :P) Okay, now be prepared to be hungry, again. :P

Night falls, Light glistens
Food served, Satisfaction emerged
I’ve forgotten what name is given to this dish.
It’s chicken, for sure.

Hot Sio Bees are here!
It’s minced pork with other ingredients.

Fried Sio Bee.
Taste much more better after it is fried!

Fried Buns.
Looks delicious but I didn’t try it! Pork inside.

After eating so much, it’s time to have some fruit punch!
Fresh, sweet and refreshing.

This is cold water-chestnut cake.
Or Ma-Ti Gao (马蹄糕) in Chinese.

And this is what I called the original Taiwan sausages!
Sizzling on top of hot BBQ platform.
Drooling just by watching them.

I might go to the food fair again, today. So, stay tune for [Part 2].

Thai Festival Fair

Category: Event, Life Style

The Thai Festival Fair has been around for sometime. Yesterday we finally went there to get some new outfit. We thought we could get cheaper clothes at the 2nd last day. However, the prices are still affordable. ^^ And I really love those outfit - unique, simple yet nice.

Thai Festival Fair @ Kuching
Notice something wrong??
LEST DAY?!
Zoom up a little…wonder who wrote this…LOL

I bought a shirt (I don’t know how to name this.) It looks like Chinese style or Japanese style or even Korean style..but it’s Thai..LOL. Very like this shirt and I bought another long pants which is in pink to match the shirt. Both are free size. I wore it and love it very much, however I really need to shrink a little more to look better in that outfit!

:: Shirt - RM20.00
:: Pants - RM15.00

Orange bought a Thai shirt too! He is a Thai clothing lover and this new outfit of his suit him so much and makes him look more lengzai (handsome :P) We were having some fun while taking some pictures with the webcam we bought from the PC fair the day before. I also took a full picture of me wearing this outfit, but I blurred my face - cause didn’t look good in that pic ><

Effects applied to pictures…

Computer Charity Fair 2007

Category: Event

Starting from yesterday, the PC Fair organized by PIKOM has been launched. But this time, they didn’t organize it here, in Kuching. Maybe of “kiasuness” (don’t want to lose), there’s also a PC fair organized in Kuching, known as the Computer Charity Fair 2007, starting from 3rd August to 5th August. Actually, I didn’t expect to go to this PC fair, I was driving the way to the city and thought of having my dinner at Hartz Chicken. But when I reached the city, OMFG…what was going on?? Why was the traffic so jam?! Then we found out that, people having some parade kind of thing in the middle of the road, and block the way to my destination. No choice but to avoid this road, I drove to another junction which leads to the place where the PC fair is held. So, I thought, why not just visit the PC fair now, since we were just few steps away?

Computer Charity Fair 2007 @ Kuching

This PC fair is rather small in size if compare to the previous one. Maybe it was a Friday, it was not as crowded as expected. Not much things to see, but we still managed to buy some goodies at affordable price.

Looks like not much people…
(See the yellow shirt guy? haha)

There’s one booth quite near to the entrance, which is to the left. Looks very empty yet you can get cheap things there. We bought a 2GB pen drive and a bluetooth from them.

Is this related to Jimmychin? XD
:: Multimedia Keyboard - RM25.00
:: A tiny webcam - RM35.00 (not very clear)
:: Bluetooth USB Dongle - RM20.00
:: Imation Nano Flash Drive - RM75.00
:: Mousepad - RM4.00 (good interface)
Total up - RM159.00, we did spend some $$ over there. But everyone is happy.
