Jimmy invited Cherry and I to the mooncake festival exhibition. We heard that someone was going to make a mooncake as big as 600kg! That’s something fresh and interesting, right? So, Jimmy came to fetch us and Irene around 2pm. And off we go, to our destination - the city.
It was a cloudy afternoon, crowded city, traffic jams…. Many events and exhibitions are going on simultaneously in the city. Driving around the city to look for parking space was tedious and at last we were lucky enough to find one. We walked to the location of the mooncake-making event. It was actually a charity event.

Carpenter Street
This is Carpenter Street. Notice the canopy? That was the place they made the 600kg mooncake. The surrounding was covered to prevent impurity when they were making the mooncake. We were not allow to go in (too many people may cause hygiene threat?) Only those from the media were allow to observe closer. We just peeped outside the transparent canopy cover. By the way, I didn’t know since when there’s a “Harmony Arch” (亲善门) there~ If you want to see how the 600kg looked like, you can see the photos in both Jimmy’s and Irene’s blog.

Art Exhibition Poster
An Art Exhibition in conjunction with the mooncake festival is here too! However, it only open from 6pm to 10pm. It was only 3pm++ so didn’t manage to go in. Peeping from the window, I saw lots of artwork form kids, that’s the so-called “Art Exhibition of Artists of Tomorrow” (明日画家画展).

Mini Fun Fair
There were several stalls around, setup for the mini fun fair. I thought it was kinda lame. =.= But it might be a good attraction for kids.

Playground
Yet another kids attraction. This is a temporary setup playground for kids to have some fun during the festival. However, it is closed in the daytime.

Man-made Pond
A man-made pond just beside the bonsai exhibition. The most eye-catching thing in this location is the big red lanterns. Notice the lantern reflection in the pond?? Yup, they are very big red lanterns that look more like onions. LOL

Big Red Lanterns

Forest
Does the above photo look like a forest? Imagine planting a mini forest at your home garden. That will be sweet. Let’s zoom out a little~~ see the true face of this “forest”

Bonsai Full View
The bonsai exhibition was actually a competition. Trophies were in the center, but I didn’t take any photo of it. haha…

A row of bonsai
And lastly on the bonsai exhibition, this is the bonsai with the “Gold medal”. I wonder how much will this bonsai cost? As we know, bonsai are always very expensive.

Bonsai with Gold Medal
After that, nothing much to do..we walked to the opposite section to have a look at the “Karnival Jualan Aidilfitri” (Aidilfitri Sales Carnival). When you see the word “Aidilfitri” you can straight away relate this to Muslim, Malay….yea…it’s the puasa (fasting) month now..

Aidilfitri Sales Carnival
Nothing much there…selling of accessories, bags, clothes and some food and drinks. Didn’t buy anything from there. LOLIt’s been a long time since I had a walk in the city during daytime. So, I was actually busy taking photos of some historical buildings found in Kuching city. Still the same, not much changes but still, I would like to show you some original shots I took.

General Post Office
The General Post Office, a building built in 1931. Very European feeling, as back that time, Kuching was still a colonial.

General Post Office Corridor
And this is the old court house built in 1874. It’s now the Sarawak Tourism Board building. I don’t know why I like to take corridors picture. =.= If you want to have a full view of the court house, you can search it from the web.

Old Court House
Many historical buildings are being maintained and also used for today’s organization. Including this Round Tower which was built in 1886. It was said that the reason of building this tower remains a mystery. Today, it has become the Sarawak Craft Council building.

Sarawak Craft Council
The Square Tower was built in 1879 as a detention camp for prisoner, but later was converted into a fortress, then a dance hall. Today, it has become a multimedia center and video theatre providing information on Sarawak’s tourist attractions.

Square Tower
This is not really a historical building, but a “watch tower” built during the time they constructed the Waterfront Park. It was once open for public but now it’s closed and 2 guards are sitting below the building. So, no one can reach the top now.

Tower
That’s all for the events and exhibitions, as well as my Kuching tour. Hope you enjoy seeing the photos.

After a couple of minutes, we reached our destination. Till then, I had a very good look at this airport which has been renovated quite some time ago.
