Isabella’s Cafe

Category: Food and Drinks

Yesterday after digging the archives about local food from Jimmy’s blog, I decided to go to one of the cafe that he had mentioned. So me and Orange went to this place for our dinner. It’s the Isabella’s Cafe, a cafe located quite near to my house. I’ve seen this cafe before and even heard of friend mentioning about it. And because I saw very beautiful pictures from Jimmy’s blog, I just can’t wait to go visit this cafe myself. This cafe looks very simple from the outside. There’s chairs all around and a see-saw, not really attractive from the outside.

There’s a sign written in Chinese saying “Please take off your shoes”. So, we took off our slippers and stepped into this cafe. Wow…the first step on the floor, it’s just like home, smooth and clean. The interior design is quite creative and gives people a smoothing feeling. Air-cons and fans were switched on - the fan seemed to be running at full speed. There are white-transparent curtains everywhere and pillows around..looks like a palace, or a bedroom, so relaxing.

The atmosphere there is really very nice. I think also depends of the number of customers there. The time I visit to this cafe, there wasn’t much people.

Okay, let’s talk about the food. The price still can be considered reasonable and without tax. I ordered an iced milk tea and Orange ordered a hot chocolate milk tea.

Iced milk tea - RM3.80

Hot chocolate milk tea - RM4.60

For food, I ordered fried rice with pineapple. Taste and smell nice, but rather a bit oily. Orange ordered cheese pork with rice, very unique, quite nice too. We also ordered some side orders - nuggets and salty sotong (cuttle fish)

Fried rice with pineapple - RM4.80

Cheese pork with rice - RM10.80

Nuggets (8 pieces) - RM5.80

Salty sotong - RM7.80 (not as tasty as I thought)

All together cost us RM37.60, and we were very full by the time we finished up all the food and drinks. The comfy pillows there just make people feel like sleeping. Overall, I like the environment there very much. If you were in Kuching, can give it a try.

Depressed by Doughnuts ><

Category: Food and Drinks

Few days ago I was looking for a doughnut or donut recipe. The ingredients are simple and easy to get from any supermarket around. The steps of doing it seems to be easy too. So yesterday, me and Cherry went to the supermarket (Hey guess what? We heard the “Dota Song” by BassHunter played in the supermarket, then we were like WTF?!) to buy the ingredients and went home to make our very own doughnuts.

Haha, guess what we got??

So sia soi (shameful) lah…perhaps my baking powder expired? (Will it be expired? I didn’t buy new one instead, using the existing one available in the kitchen which I bought around…hmm last year?)

Westwood: Cheap Western Food

Category: Food and Drinks

Like to eat western food with an affordable price? Normally, here in Kuching, you go to those cafe/restaurant to eat western food, it costs more than a normal meal. Although the atmosphere is nice, when you pay the bills you will go ouuuchhh~~ (if you’re rich than that’ll be another case)

Westwood Continental Cuisine is a nice place to have a cheap and tasty western meal. You can choose to have your “western food” cook in the western style or the continental style. Prices are really reasonable and food are really delicious. Highly recommended to those who are in Kuching and love western food. Once you walk into this restaurant, you can see they have made it very colorful and simple. The only bad thing about this restaurant is, it’s quite warm inside, only fans and no air-cond.

Yesterday, me, Orange and one of our friends went to Westwood to have our dinner. Their business are always very good, a lot of customers, but it didn’t take up too much time to wait for our food to be served. It cost us about RM37 for the food. We ordered Fish N’ Chips, Lamp Chop, Pork Chop, Soup of the Day and Garlic Bread. Really reasonable. The beverage there is standard too, meaning just like the normal price you see in normal Kopitiam (cafe).

Wheat Grass C - RM2.00 (I think? Forget the price)

Fish and Chips - RM9.50
Very delicious~~~ my favorite <3 src="http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/3558/garlicbreadtq9.jpg" title="Garlic Bread & Soup of the Day">
Garlic Bread - RM2.00
Soup of the Day - RM3.50

Really like the Fish N’ Chips there. Highly recommended!
Ate until not left a single bit *drools*

See what Wilson Chin said about Westwood. More pictures there.

Chocolate

Category: Food and Drinks

CHOCOLATE, it’s an all time favorite of most people. I love chocolate too, even though it contains lots of fat. However, I only favor chocolate bars, not other chocolate-flavored products such as ice-cream, cake, beverage, etc.. Again, I love chocolates, especially white chocolate and chocolate with rum inside. oh~~

Yesterday went shopping and saw this Cadbury chocolate. Very unique packing and it’s flat and slim. Maybe I haven’t been looking around for a long time, until yesterday I get to know of this chocolate. It comes with 2 flavor - apple and strawberry? (or maybe more flavors around but I only saw 2 kinds) Anyway, I haven’t taste it. I plan to give the strawberry flavor to my dad as a small gift on this coming Father’s day. (He’s a chocolate lover too!)

It looks just so slim and looks like a book more than an edible chocolate. Hope it tastes good too ^^

Update: That’s not an apple flavored chocolate but Peach. It’s processed peaches slice into small pieces and “embed” inside the chocolate. Taste nice ^^

Japanese Meal

Category: Food and Drinks

Talking about Japanese meal, most of us will think of sushi first. Just now, went to have some sushi and other Japanese food with my boyfriend in a Japanese restaurant. Well, that’s our first time going to that restaurant. We ordered a set of sushi and a Bento set.

All together cost us RM59. Hmm..it’s been a long time I haven’t ate Japanese meal, so it was a great dinner. But I still miss the sushi in Sushi King. Unfortunately, we don’t have Sushi King here =(
