10 Biggest Brain Damaging Habits

Category: Health

I saw this article in Kenneth’s blog. I think it is a good one so would like to post an entry here too! I will highlight my thoughts in blue.

10 Biggest Brain Damaging Habits

[No Breakfast]
People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.
—–
Well, what if those who work in abnormal timing? They can’t have breakfast, instead having brunch. I suppose it means those who don’t take a meal right after waking up will cause brain damage, right?

[Overeating]
Overeating causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease of mental power.
—–
Better not to practice this habit! Not only decrease mental power, I think the most obvious effect is —> you become obese/overweight easily! Sometimes, food that is too delicious make people can’t resist to take more! Well, once in a while shouldn’t bring much harm…we need to control though.

[Smoking]
Smoking causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.
—–
I don’t think smokers care about this. They know smoking can cause lung cancer, but still there’s lot of smokers out there! Kids who wanna act cool, also start to smoke!! Unless there’s no tobacco left in the world…Smoking = pollute one’s health as well as the environment.

[High Sugar Consumption]
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
—–
I didn’t know about this! I thought consuming lots of sugar will only leads to Diabetes. Wow, so it leads to brain damage either? Gotta watch out for this now..

[Air Pollution]
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body, inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.
—–
Well, we can’t do much about the air pollution caused by factories, can we? But we still can do some control over some sort of things. Do smoking also pollute the air? Why must people go modify the car exhaust and make more not only air but sound pollution? Just to satisfy their vanity?

[Sleep Deprivation]
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.
—–
People don’t care about the acceleration of the death of brain cells. That’s why an idiom such as “burn the midnight oil” exist! Don’t sleep just to leveling faster in game or simply just need to do some revision for the exam next day…we really can’t help. Sometimes health will become the 2nd thing in consideration compare to the matter we have in hand.

[Head Covered While Sleeping]
Sleeping with the head covered, increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.
—–
Reminds me of Orange. ><

[Working Your Brain During Illness]
Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.
—–
Just don’t tell me because you’re sick, you stop your revision for the exam that you’re suppose to sit for the next day! Sometimes there’s situation where you are the only one that can accomplish the task, not working hard might get yourself in trouble…what to do? Let’s just tell the boss “I don’t want to damage my brain!”. Do you think it works? *thinking hard*

[Lacking in Stimulating Thoughts]
Thinking is the best way to train our brain. Lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.
—–
Sometimes thinking too much also make you headache…

[Talking Rarely]
Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain.
—–
We talk craps most of the time, don’t we? XD

Well, in conclusion, since we know that these habits might lead to brain damage, and we have our own situations…I think we have to always be moderate and have our own judgment on when and what to do in the right time. What do you think?

Brunchner

What is “Brunchner“? Well, we will leave that for a moment. First, let’s see. Do you always have brunch?

Brunch is a late morning meal between the typical time for breakfast and lunch. A combination of breakfast and lunch, usually eaten sometime between 11am to 3pm.

Most people will have brunch on Sundays, typically known as Sunday brunch. Okay, so back to “Brunchner”. Guess you will know what it means by now: A combination of breakfast + lunch + dinner. At first, I thought “brunchner” is a term that I thought of describing the combination of these 3 meals…but hey, check this out!

Brunch practice is not really healthy if it is to be in long term, 7 days a week. Don’t even mention brunchner. Bruncher, person who brunch, likely to have poorer health. How about “brunchnerer“…more worse…having 3 meals at one time. Disordered dinning time actually affect how our body reacts. Thus, health threatening. You might not see it or feel it, just because your health is probably in good condition, or yet-to-be-bad condition.

My Orange always have brunch or sometimes brunchner. I’m always worried about it. According to my studies, those who usually take brunch or brunchner, much depends on their life style and working hour. Part of the reason will go to laziness, and another good and reasonable reason is save cost. No matter what your reason is, please also consider your health. Don’t practice brunching or brunchnering too often.

Remember my previous post about “Money“? Saving is good but don’t neglect health as well. The greatest wealth is to be in good health always. Cheers =)
