Everyone of us have Human Rights. What is Human Rights?

Human rights refers to the “basic rights and freedoms to which all humans are entitled.”[1] Examples of rights and freedoms which are often thought of as human rights include civil and political rights, such as the right to life and liberty, freedom of expression, and equality before the law; and social, cultural and economic rights, including the right to participate in culture, the right to food, the right to work, and the right to education. [Source]

Yes, freedom of expression and freedom of speech. This is what you can see in the blogosphere. Such freedom in the blogosphere has brought up an argument on ethical writing issue. Ask yourself a question, “How free is freedom of speech in the blogosphere - a free media?“

I don’t concern much in political issue but I believe most of you know that a Raja Petra, Malaysian political blogger, was jailed for sedition charges. He believes what he said is the truth with evidence so instead of paying the bail, he was on hunger strike.

According to the huma rights definition quoted from Wikipedia, what do you think? Is there any human rights here? Think about it. (not going further as this lead to sensitive issue)

Today is May 15, a day for Bloggers Unite For Human Rights. As a blogger, let’s unite together and spread the awareness of human rights. Let’s blog for hope.

April 22nd is Earth Day. I want to keep this short yet I would still like to bring up this issue to everyone. When talk about Earth Day, it’s all about environmental issue like “Global Warming“, going green, save the Earth, etc…

Here is how you can help to save our Mother Earth, bit by bit: Save Planet Earth

Some of you will be thinking that I’m already destroying the environment by hooking on the Internet everyday, but we can’t deny the convenience technology has brought to us, can we? Although I can’t do much to help out, at least I try my best by practising the following:

1. Don’t turn on the aircon unless neccessary.
2. Walk to my destination instead of drive, if it’s not too far.
3. Reuse things like papers or plastic bags.

Start saving our Earth now, not only for a day or two.

We should all go green to avoid the global warming crisis. There are plenty of way we can save the Earth which you can easily search from the Web. Remember last year there was a Blog Action Day campaign? That’s really a good concept to alert everyone about this issue.

It’s even better if we can change our home products to eco products, saving money and energy at the same time. Does it sound great?

I personally think that the spirit of going green in a developing country like mine, is not as strong as advance country like the USA or Japan. Maybe because we can’t see and feel the impact yet. With the development of Kuching, I feel that it’s being polluted - physically and psychologically. I want a green land but not a land with lots of shopping malls and noisy crowds.

You spend money to make yourself drunk which might cause something unpleasant to happen. What’s so good about drinking? You know the answer better than anyone else. A lot of car accidents are caused by drunk drivers.

Things you should know about drinking and driving:

• Drinking and driving kills.
• Do not drink if you plan to drive.
• Never get into a vehicle with a driver who has been drinking.
• Alcohol leads to slower reaction times, difficulty in gauging speed and distance, drowsiness and loss of concentration.
• Late night drinkers may still be over the limit the following morning.

Say no to this act.

An alcoholic would probably turn out to be a drunk driver. Maybe it’s time for them to go for an alcohol rehab. By changing such habit, you can make a difference.  Not only for the safety of road users but also for personal health and other threatening facts.

Not everyone has the chance to have a real good look at our planet Earth. But scientists had illustrated the figure of Earth and we always have a picture of a blue sphere with green patches in our mind when we talk about Earth.
