Movie: Jumper

Jumper by Doug Liman

A couple of weeks ago, Orange and I went to watch Jumper in the theater.  Before watching this movie, I heard comments which are slightly negative. But after watching this movie, it proved those comments wrong. This is indeed an interesting movie, at least for me, it is.

A lot of computer graphic involved, of course.  The story is quite straight forward, introducing how David Rice, the main character, realizes his ability to teleport from one place to the other, how he commits crime (robbing bank without anyone knowing his identity) and at last how he meets the other ‘Jumpers’ and the fight begins.

Basically, this is a story of the war between the “Jumpers” - people who are able to teleport from one point to another, and the “Paladins” - people who hunt for Jumpers. Quite interesting in the climax part and of course a rather ‘happy ending’ for the relationship of David and Millie.

Surf's Up (2007)
Surf’s Up by Ash Brannon & Chris Buck

I know, this is not a new movie. I always love to watch animation, so how can I miss out this one? But only until yesterday evening I get the chance to watch the DVD version with Orange. I think that Surf’s Up is yet another interesting animation - very different from the other penguin movie, Happy Feet.

HK Star Lydia Shen (沈殿霞) Just Passed Away

Category: Movies

Shen Dian XiaThis seems to be a shocking news and a great lost for the Hong Kong entertainment industry. Lydia (14.07.1947 - 19.02.2008) or better known as Shen DianXia (in pinyin) has just passed away this morning (19th Feb 2008).

Since last year, news about her being charged in the hospital had spread and at first they (her daughter, ex-husband and herself) denied that she had sickness. Late Lydia was famous for her plump and happy-looking appearance. But since sickness struck her, she became thinner gradually and really looked unhealthy.

If you know how to read Chinese, you can search for more detail news like this.

May her soul rest in peace.

I watch her movie since I was young.  We have lost a great actress.

The Last Movie

In December 2007, there are several nice movie release. I’ve watched “The Golden Compass“. Maybe it was the wrong moment when I watched that movie, because I fall asleep and missed out certain part of the movie. In other words - less interesting. I planned to watch “I Am Legend” since I first saw its trailer.

Gegege no Kitaro by Motoki Katsuhide

Sometime I go, Jay-han mentioned about this movie. It sounds interesting so I finally get to watch it. Well, nowadays there’s really a lot of manga or anime come into Live Action, meaning movie version.

Kitaro is half-human and half-yokai (a general term for creatures and supernatural beings), orphaned as a child and dedicated to keeping the peace between the human and yokai worlds. Kitaro tries to save a high school girl named Yumeko and stop a stone with the power to control both worlds from falling into the wrong hands.

It’s a very straight forward story with crazy and amazing computer graphics. It’s true that the most unforgettable yokai (monster) is the Eyeball Otosan. Read more…
