This is how the old Facebook profile looks like.

The most attractive feature you can find in timeline is the “Cover”. It’s like the image header you found in almost every typical personal blogs. Or if you are using Path on your smartphones, it’s the same like the “cover” in your Path profile.

After converting my Facebook profile to the new timeline profile, this is how it looks like.

You probably need some time to get used to the interface, though.

“Once you get timeline, you’ll have 7 days before anyone else can see it. This gives you a chance to get your timeline looking the way you want before other people see it.”

Now, you can highlight / feature any posts that you share on your timeline by clicking the star icon. You can hide or delete posts from your timeline as well.

Some people dislike the new timeline profile. But we still have to bare with it as sooner or later everyone will be forced to change. Once you get use to it, there should not be any problems. Just like previously Facebook changed their interface and gained a lot of negative feedback. Still, people are using Facebook!

We are poor souls who do not own any credit card. So, off we go..with a bunch of RM50 on hand, just to get 2 units of iPhone 4. During March, DiGi had a promo of getting the first iPhone with a smart plan, and the 2nd phone can be purchased without any contract (smart plans).

And that is how Orange and I got an iPhone 4 for ourselves. I got the smart plan with an iPhone 4, while he got the 2nd iPhone (plan free).

It was my dream smart phone…

And at last, I got one for myself!

This sounds crazy and imba. Once we go the phone on hand and settle the payment, we went to have a drink at KFC..and..our Apple pro friend, Peter, helped us jailbreak using his Mac Book Pro. XD

I just couldn’t let go of the phone Lovin’ it.

Now, Orange and I can play games together.

Even during hangout, we can just stare at our iPhones and do whatever we want.

P/S: I’ve been wanting to blog about my iPhone 4 for many months ago. Yet, busy at work just make me more and more lazy to post any updates But I guess those of you who followed me on my social network like Facebook or Twitter, will already know that I have obtained an iPhone early this March.

Anyway, I love my phone but the home button is getting less and less sensitive. Perhaps almost time to send in for warranty :/

I had been dreaming to get a G11 for months!! Why G11? Perhaps you can read a review from Digital Photography School.

Dad even offered to get me a G11 for my birthday gift. But I turned the offer down, just because I felt kinda bad if Dad were to get such an expensive gift for me. But, Orange somehow gave me a surprise on 31st of August 2010.31st of August has become a memorable date for me! No, it’s not because of the National Day (31st August is Malaysia’s national day). It marks the birth of my new baby ^__^

This is one expensive baby. Cost around RM1,700.

It was a Tuesday night. I went to visit Orange. He took out a paper bag from his bag and handed to me, telling me that someone had asked him to pass it to me. When I saw it was G11, no doubt that the someone must be he himself!! No one on earth would give me this thing for free.

I was so touched and I shed tears. I couldn’t hold back my tears of joy and of course feeling heart pain for the money that Orange had spent on this camera, just for me.

Cherry had Canon IXUS 130 few months before I had G11. And more crazy, Dad bought her an 550D!! Her first DSLR!! So here, we have a Canon family consist of 3 cameras.

Picture quality taken by G11, no doubt, is nice. Good enough for a semi-pro.

Never mind about the video capturing quality, I rarely take videos. If you love to take videos, you may consider getting a G12.

I love the LCD monitor which is flexible and you can rotate it.

Yea, a 180 degree rotation. Good for camwhoring.

And that’s the reason why recently I took a lot of vain photos. If you follow me in Facebook, you should have seen most of those photos. If you haven’t, don’t worry because I’ll show you some right here.

Oh, by the way, I feel that my makeup skill has improved. Hence, more photogenic now.

I bring along my G11 with me almost everyday. Just in case there’s some “Kodak moment” spotted. All these while, I’d been using my Sony T2 for all photo shooting. It has served me for nearly 3 years.

Thanks Sony T2, you can have a good rest right now. Thanks for all the memories that you had captured for me all these years.

This means, I will be taking a lot more photos. So, stay tune!! ^^

The beta version which you can download from Microsoft’s website is known as “Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010“. If you happen to download this beta version, you should be downloading an installer called “ProfessionalPlus.exe”.

These are the applications that comes with this version:

Microsoft Office 2010 comes in 32-bit and 64 bit, and is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7.

Upon installation, you will be given a beta product key to activate the program, which is unique.

You can choose to customize the installation. I don’t think I will use all of the application, so I only chose those that I may be using or would like to try out. But still, it requires around 2GB free space in my hard disk.

Some important things you need to take note before installing Microsoft Office 201o Beta:

• Backup your data
• Uninstall the previous Microsoft Office version (if you have one)
• Have minimum 3GB free disk space availble
• Keep a record of the give beta product key
• Have Internet access (for product activation)
• A valid Windows Live ID (for registering/downloading Office 2010)

Once you have finished install, you need to key in the product key. You can activate Office 2010 by open up Microsoft Word (or any of the Office application. Just need to activate from one of the application to activate the whole product), got to “File” and navigate to “Help” and click on “Change Product Key“.Lastly, type in the beta product key which is given by Microsoft earlier to activate.

After inserting the product key, close the application and open again (if you want to use it right away). By then, the product activation should be done.

My Two Cents:

Interface wise, it more or less has the feel of Microsoft Office 2007. If you depend a lot on Microsoft Office, perhaps you might not want to install Microsoft Office 2010 beta, afterall, it’s still in beta stage. I did a clean install for Microsoft Office as I just have my system converted to Windows 7 and had not yet install any office suite application. I don’t always use office suite application at home but somehow, sometimes I still need to access to some Words, Excel documents. So I thought, why not try out Office 2010 beta?

Why not get a new hard disk? You may ask. Okay, I just don’t feel like spending few hundred bucks on this. I need money for other higher priority items. But Orange is so sweet. Few days ago he bought a new hard disk for me and put it inside my bag. I thought it was an extra IDE hard disk which I found in the office (I thought of bringing it home, and just put it inside my bag and never bother it again).

After waiting for one day, he was wondering why I had not mention anything about the “surprise”. So he finally spoke about it. I was astonished and I quickly checked my bag..Oh..it’s a brand new SATA hard disk! With a cute hand written message attached!

Oh my gosh, just can’t believe I’m getting a 640GB SATA hard disk myself. Not a big deal, but still, wow!

Last night, I just installed the hard disk. And now it’s sitting inside my computer chassis.

I may need a new casing, a more spacious one. Take a closer look at all the messy cables. Hard to organize as it’s too crowded.

Okay, after installing the hard disk. It’s time for initialization. Yes, you need to do that, or else you cannot use your hard disk, yet. I’m still running Windows XP, by the way. Just complete the initialize wizard first.

Here is how you can initialize your hard disk. Go to Start > Run and type diskmgmt.msc and press enter.

Look for the new hard disk volume. It should be “Unallocated” by default. Right click and choose “New Partition” to format it. This is also the step where you can choose to create multiple partition. For this hard disk, I didn’t create multiple partition.

Once the format process is complete, the hard disk will be ready to use.

Note: One year ago I did bought a 640GB SATA hard disk. (Now price decrease compare to the value that time) However, it’s attached to Orange’s PC, as that time my motherboard cannot support SATA. So, I’m not using it. He upgraded his PC so I’m using his previous PC components now, that’s why my computer now is capable of using a SATA hard disk.

Netbooks (sometimes referred to as mini notebooks or subnotebooks) are a rapidly evolving category of small, light and inexpensive laptop computers suited for general computing and accessing web-based applications; they are often marketed as “companion devices,” that is, to augment a user’s other computer access. Recently, there are so many choice for you to choose, from Acer, Asus, HP, Toshiba, BenQ to many others.

They are really small in size, but how reliable can they be? If you ask me which brand will I choose, I will choose Toshiba because of its design.

This definitely suit girls. Pink, light and cute. If getting a netbook is necessary, I would love to get this!

It comes in different color too. Brown looks good too.

Functionality wise, I think for now, most netbooks are more or less the same.

What I like most about Toshiba’s netbook is the design of the on/off button. Simply splendid.

Which brand is more reliable? It’s actually a hard question. But base on my experience, I receive (for warranty claim) more Acer and Asus netbook compare to the other brands. Probably because they have better sales? BenQ is also another patient in the list.

Although base on most netbooks definition, it is said that netbooks are inexpensive, I still think it’s expensive for us living in Malaysia, especially my hometown. The price range is still above 1000 Malaysia Ringgit. Will you pay 1k++ for a piece of small notebook which, in most of the case, carries only one year warranty? They are fragile!

SAN FRANCISCO – MICROSOFT said on Thursday it will soon release free anti-virus software so people on tight budgets won’t skimp on protecting their computers from hackers.

A beta, or test, version of Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) will be publicly available for download beginning June 23 in Brazil, Israel and the United States. It is to be rolled out in other countries later in the year.

‘Cost and performance barriers prevent many consumers from using up-to-date security software to protect their PCs,’ Microsoft said in a statement.

The US software giant described MSE as ‘a no-cost anti-malware solution that provides consumers with quality protection from threats including viruses, spyware, rootkits and trojans.’

The technology firm said that effective anti-virus protection is a ‘must-have’ for computer users given increases in the number and severity of attacks by cyber criminals using malicious software to infect machines.

Paying to buy and routinely update computer security software ‘does not meet the needs of many consumers,’ including those in emerging markets where money and resources are scarce, according to Microsoft.

There was a Sony promotion held in Boulevard shopping mall on the day we had sushi. Great deals / cheaper price is in the house!

OMG…I didn’t even finish playing God of War, now God of War III has been released..but in PlayStation 3. ><

I love Sony products, but sometimes it’s not so affordable. Take for example, Sony Vaio. Its design is elegant, yet the specification is not so “high end”. But the price is also very “good”.

So far, I only have a Sony PlayStation 2 and Sony T2 camera. How about you? Do you own any Sony products? How do you think about this brand?

Celcom 3G broadband is something came into my mind. Technology has evolved rapidly these few years, now you can connect to the Internet via different medium. There are several plans available, at last I decided to sign up for Celcom Broadband Basic plan which cost RM68 monthly. You need a USB modem in order to connect to this broadband. I bought a Huawei E160E USB modem. Including the first month payment for the service, I spent RM467.00: RM68 for the broadband plan, RM399 for the modem. (dealer price, that’s the best thing I can get when working in my current company *evil grin*)

This is the lastest model, according to my colleague. If you don’t know what is a USB modem, perhaps you have heard of Vodafone? E160E has very simple and neat design, smaller in size and easy to bring along.

p/s: Argh, I know…my nail polish is fading…

With Celcom SIM card and the USB modem, Orange is able to connect to the Internet once again. It just feel like a fish in water (如鱼得水). Orange is once again — “alive”.

I’m happy too, because now I can continue communicate with Orange through Windows Live Messenger when I’m at home. ^_^

A sudden thought stroke in my mind. Why not try to use Gmail? Yes,  I do have a Gmail account but it’s not my primary email. The best thing about Gmail is each email with replies is just like a conversation. You can easily refer back to what have been discussed previously without recalling or searching the old archives.

Another great thing Gmail offers to its user is the ability to change theme (appearance) of the interface. Some themes even changes according to the time zone (weather) you are in, provided you enter the correct location.

Back to Yahoo! mail. If I’m not mistaken, Yahoo! mail as a feature called “Stationery” and was only available if you pay (like upgrade your account to Yahoo! mail plus). Only until today, I just realized that the “Stationery” is now FREE for everyone! It’s just like a theme or layout of your content which you are going to send to the receiptients.

There are several themes available and I tried to send an email from my Yahoo! mail to my Gmail account.

I’ll still stick with Yahoo! mail and will use Gmail for some special purposes.
