Motherboard

Tall buildings are very common in cities. Now here you see a mini version of buildings of a city. If you are reading this, you are probably accessing these “mini buildings” which resided in the rectangular box of yours.

Yup! That’s how your motherboard looks like from a certain angle. Lately, I was busy doing my “techie” job in the office. Well, it’s part of my job description. LiewCF once said that I’m a geek girl. Guess he is right. Read more…

Google: 502 Server Error?

Category: Tech Stuff

It’s 8:19 (GMT +8) in the morning. Doing the usual stuff once turned on my PC in the office. I was looking around in the new MyBlogLog features (which I find it very useful), I saw an interesting blog topic from my neighborhood. Clicked on the link and expected to read something interesting… But…

I thought it was something wrong at my side again… So I decided to check some other blogs that are hosted in blogspot.com. All of them give me the same results. Any one out there having the same experience?

“Please try again in 30 seconds.”

I tried - same result.

It’s back around 9am, though. :P

Is It Safe Just to Remove Data?

Category: Tech Stuff

With the rising of advance technology, we are able to do many things in a more convenient way. It has become “too convenient” that almost everyone can take photos or videos with a device (cellphone, camera, etc) in hand. And the misuse of such technology cause severe cyber crime to emerge.

We should learn from what has happened recently to victims like Edison (as if considering him a victim?) and such. Leaking of information, especially those that are private and confidential, is something we must prevent. If you store things digitally, you have to be extra cautious.

Left aside the theory of Edison being the suspect himself behind the crime, even if he had removed all the photos before sending his laptop for repair, it is still NOT SAFE. The removed data can still easily be retrieved by some undelete utilities….

How to protect ourselves? I mean totally remove digital data from your computer? There’s something you can always do about it. Read on…

Yahoo is Down?

Category: Tech Stuff

Woke up this morning, and do the very usual thing - checking my blog and email. When I was trying to check my Yahoo! Mail, my browser showed “The connection has timed out”. So, I thought it was my connection problem (since recently Streamyx - the ISP is not working very smooth in my area).

Then I tried to access my blog again - no problem. So I thought it was maybe a temporary down time at Yahoo!’s server. When I reached the office, I tried to access Yahoo! Mail again. It’s still the same. I even tried to access all Yahoo! related sites like MyblogLog, Flickr and even the Yahoo! search engine itself. All having the same result.

I tried to google about this issue but it seems like there’s no significant answers at the moment. My conclusion is - Yahoo!’s server is down. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Is it me or what? Anyone of you having the same experience?

Update: It’s 10.35am. I checked my blog and saw the MyBlogLog avatar widget is available. So I tried to access Yahoo! Mail. It’s back up again. Every Yahoo! related site is fine when I use proxy to surf the net. Apparently, it has to be something wrong with the local ISP. Not Yahoo!’s fault.

Choosing Network Equipment

Category: Tech Stuff

Most of the time, branded network equipment is expensive. Consider when you want to implement a network in a large organization, you have to spend or invest more in reliable and secure network equipment. This is where used cisco will be of useful.

I know, you will start thinking that how can a used equipment be safe and reliable to be used? Well, in DigitalHoop there are many varieties of network equipment from switch to network cables.  Although the network equipment is used, DigitalHoop provides branded ones and they also test the equipments before re-market.  Furthermore, they also provide  a 30-Day money-back guarantee and up to a one-year warranty.

Sounds like a good deal, isn’t it?
