Sometimes I just hope I can take a break from work, although my job is not a tedious one. Longing for a vacation is most working person’s dream, isn’t it? My blogger friend, Melbie, just came back from Jakarta and she must have enjoyed herself very much. I really envy her and of course other friends that can travel freely, going for vacation almost any time they want, just like Headsteadi.

It’s not possible for me to plan something big like going to Texas for vacation and enjoy myself in the luxious North Padre Island rentals. So, I plan to go local. I hope this year I’m able to join the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) with Orange.

This year, the RWMF falls on 11th – 13th July. Anyone interested?

My God mom from London came back to Kuching. Yesterday she talked to me over the phone. We chatted for a while and asking about my current status.

God Mom: Do you have any (boy)friend yet?
Me: Yes..I do.
God Mom: That’s good. Well, try to find some time traveling before you get married. You know, after married, you have to manage your family and won’t be able to travel around frequently.

That make some sense. But I will have to earn more and save more at the mean time before I can go for a holiday. I told Orange that I want to go to Japan at least once in my life. Going to Japan is not easy, I know.

Now, a question struck in my mind. For Malaysians, which airline will you prefer?

I think most of us will prefer AirAsia, because even after including the travel insurance fee, the total amount for the air ticket is still cheaper than MAS.

Service wise, I think AirAsia is improving and they start to provide more destination. I seldom travel, so what do you think? I would love to listen to your comment about both of this airlines.

I personally think that this 16″ deluxe computer sleeve is very nice. Unlike my laptop bag which is kinda bulky, it is slim and has dual-density form base and fleece lining for maximum protection of your laptop. Sounds good right?

What kind of luggage are you using during traveling? Are your luggages branded ones such as Kenneth Cole, Samsonite, Rimowa and many more? I just remember my parents always like to purchase luggage whenever they see cheap and big ones. The problem with these luggages are, the zip and number locks spoil easily. That’s why they need to keep buying whenever our existing luggages can’t be used anymore.

I dislike luggages with number locks, because I can always accidentally reset the numbers and screw up everything. During my last visit to Singapore, before departure I accidentally press the wrong thing on the number lock. Luckily it wasn’t the built in lock that attached to the luggage. At the end, the number lock had to be cut off!

Do you have such experience with luggages too?

The fourth day had finally arrived. It was our last day staying in Singapore. After we had our breakfast in the hotel, we then took the taxi to Changi Airport. Our flight was 11.15am, but around 9am we already reached the airport.

Changi Airport is really very big. It is divided into 3 terminals, which Terminal 3 has just launched recently. We used Terminal 2.

Really spacious…

Then you can see a cupboard with samples which you must not bring it along in your hand-held bags, else you will have to check-in your bags in the cargo. Well, it is said that this is an enforcement of the International law. (prevent explosion) In Kuching, they just show the picture in the notice without sample…and you know, my facial toner which is less than 1ooml in volume was forced to be thrown away. My toner bottle stated there is 300ml, however the liquid inside is less than that already….but still they said the bottle is too big!! =.= Until today I haven’t buy a new toner. Was really mad back then. Hey, even mineral water also cannot (even new one which is still sealed!!), but empty mineral water bottle can… =.= (stupid rules)

McDonalds providing Internet services? Somehow I saw papers were sticked on the monitor…

Starbucks!! Lots of people inside.

Getting bored in the airport as it was still early, I did a comparison…take note: S$50 is equivalent to RM100++

Did some shopping and bought some souvenir…

When it’s almost time, we walked towards the boarding gate. On the way, we saw this thing. This is a pic which I took later..earlier when I saw this, not much people were there. It’s call “The Koi Pond”.

What is this? “Rub It From Scratch”…it’s some wood craving of the Singapore icons.

How to play?

Step 1: Take a piece of paper.

Step 2: Choose an icon model.

Step 3: Grab your favorite crayon color.

Step 4: Start coloring or scratching.

I’ve chosen this model.

And this is my final work.

After this, we continue walking towards the boarding gate F30.

However, it was still early so we sat outside and waited. Free Internet is available, so I thought I could contact my anata.

You can only see the monitor, keyboard and mouse. You cannot Alt+Tab or do anything to the computer except surfing. No messenger installed, so I login to e-buddies web messenger…

Finally our plane arrived.

Shortly after we were “in the air”, food was served.

Chicken curry and steamed rice. I ordered this..the curry is quite nice.

Spaghetti with beef.

A view outside the aircraft.

Hey, look down there! There’s an isolated island.

It was a 1 hour and 25 minutes flight…and look..I can see the border of Borneo island now!

Take a closer look.

And the last pic before I off my camera and get ready for arrival. Home sweet home~~ Kuching, I’m back.

And that’s the end of my Singapore Trip! Hope you enjoy looking at all the pix that I’ve taken along the journey.

Saw this outside a shopping mall.. what does this statue mean? A kid doesn’t want to go back home but want to continue shopping for toys?

Singapore is really a busy city…cars and people crowded in the street.

We always heard people mentioned that Singaporean is very kiasu (fear to lose). How true is this? X’mas decoration is everywhere in early November already.

The “big project”…decorating an X’mas tree. I think it should be completed by now.

There are lots of interesting stuff in the shopping mall, but I didn’t dare to take photos, because photo taking might be prohibited.

There are still lots of photos of my Singapore trip. It’s like a never ending process of sharing the photos here. I tried to separate it in different parts but today, I’m gonna show around 36 photos in one go. So be prepared to see lots of picture in this post. For your information, I’m currently back in Kuching and the following photos were taken on the 3rd day (11.11.2007) during my trip in Singapore.

I didn’t buy much things except some cute little things. The place I bought the most thing is in Daiso Japan which is located in IMM. These are the things that I’ve bought (excluding the wooden basket).

This is IMM building.

Daiso Japan, the place where I bought a lot of things. Everything in this shop, regardless of size or variety, is S$2.00. Cheap right? All of the things there are from Japan. I even bought some useful things. [review in future post]

After shopping in Daiso Japan, we went to have our lunch in this building too. The food court name is Kopitiam. I’d been eating lots of oily stuff and most of the time is meat, therefore when I saw there was economy fast food available, I was so happy because I could eat more veggies.

Some green veggie, bean sprout, egg and white rice cost me S$3.00.

I ate all without wasting it. The food is quite nice, especially when you are hungry.

I was told that this Durian Ice is really nice. Wow! It was really delicious.

This is very nice too! It’s Tang Yuan with black sesame filling, and the soup is longgan + winter melon.

After eating, we walked around this building and this is a place which caught my attention most! Food!! All kind of food is being sold here. That time I was full already so didn’t buy anything to eat. Instead, just walked past and quickly snap some photos without standing still, therefore some pix turned out to be blurry.

This is from a bakery shop.

Waffle ice-cream. But these are just sample model – fake for display, but still look delicious.

Colorful puddings.

We went to IMM with our relative – my grand aunt. After shopping, we decided to go to her apartment in Toa Payoh. Before leaving, I found these “icons” to be very creative and take a picture of it.

Since we followed our relative, so we just took the bus to Toa Payoh. We need to take bus number 105 to Toa Payoh and it was a 45-minute-trip.

We had our tickets!! Most people use the card when they enter the bus. They don’t have to pay cash. That’s really convenient. Don’t know when this system can be implemented in Kuching. But I guess Kuching people rather have their own cars. Oh yea, the bus is air-conditioned.

Inside the bus, you can see this signboard. I think Singaporean really respect the old folks.

After 45 minutes, we finally reached Toa Payoh. This is a “clock tower” in the area of my grand aunt’s apartment.

Such view really looks familiar when we watch Singapore drama…haha

You can see tall buildings everywhere…

This is an antique clock in my grand aunt’s living room.

After resting for a while in her apartment, we continue to shop around Toa Payoh. On the way, I saw this scene…

Do you still think that locking your bicycle’s wheel is safe??! LOL

You can see double-decker frequently in Singapore.

Toa Payoh is one crowded residential area…

This looks like a recreation park. The weather was not very nice, it seemed like it was gonna rain.

A corner in Toa Payoh Mall

Another corner in Toa Payoh Mall.. there are lots of shop that sells cheap things.

I found this unique sign on the floor.

We had some dessert.

Grand aunt said there’s a good place for us to sit down to have our dessert. This place also have many other food stall. We sat down and ordered some fried cakes such as fried banana cakes, fried sweet potato cakes…

It doesn’t look nice in this pic but it really taste great!

You go to bank and take the number queue. But now, when you order rojak, you need to take your number too!! Business really good.

Currently serving number 57, we were number 62. We ordered what we wanted first and were given the number. When it was our turn, we had to go and take our rojak ourselves.

Finally the rojak is here! Wow..lots of peanuts on top! The paste is really nice! Taste really good!! *drools*

When want to order drinks, I don’t even know what to order and simply ordered Wheatgrass..and this is it…a canned wheatgrass..the taste is not as strong as the one we have in Kuching.

After finish eating, we were really full and that time was around 4pm. We followed grand aunt walking around again. I saw this interesting statue. I was busy looking around to see if I could capture anything nice. The others just continue walking, I don’t think they even saw this statue.

Donuts!! I saw many donuts shop around. When will we have such donut shop in Kuching? Maybe soon? Because there are 2 shopping malls opening soon. *anticipating*

See this! We also have Kaya Toast in Kuching but of course with different name.

And finally, this is the Kuching kolo mee that I’ve seen Kennysia mentioned before in his blog. They have open more than one branch now.

More pix coming up…

If you still remember in my previous post, I did mention about the hotel I stayed does not have attractive interior decoration, therefore I didn’t take any picture of it. Except, for the corner where I get to connect to the Internet.

It’s at a corner at the hotel lobby. There are 6 computer kiosks available there. While I was in Singapore for 4 days 3 nights, I sure spent some money and time to online at night. This is because I missed Orange too much.

It’s not free!! S$1 for 15 minutes.

Early morning of 11th November, before going out, I went to check my blog for a little while and took some pictures there, since I promised Orange to show him the place I get connected to the Internet.

Yup, it’s flat LCD monitor. But the speed is really slow because the RAM is not more than 256MB!! And no Firefox installed, only Microsoft Internet Explorer…which really killed my patience.

Something I like about this kiosk is that, its on and connected to the Internet all the time. When you wanna use the computer, simply just put in a 1 dollar coin into the console and the computer will be “unfreeze” and you can use the computer for 15 minutes each time.

There’s a time counter just below the monitor, so that you can see how many minutes left for you to use the computer. Once times up, the computer will be “freeze” again – you can’t key in anything nor move the mouse cursor. However, the things you do (such as surfing websites) will still remain in the computer, just insert another coin then you can continue on your work.

If the computer is too slow or you simply don’t want to use it after the 15 minutes limit (and you don’t want the next user to access your data), you just need to press the yellow+red reset button.

Personally think, this is a good concept for all cyber cafes. Don’t know any cyber cafes in Kuching using such system?? It will definitely save a lot of work and frustration between worker and customers. (Based on my experience)

I was lucky to use “free” internet once, when the previous user only use 5 minutes…the remaining 10 minutes were used by me , which save me a little bit. Because if I online for 1 hour = S$4, that will be almost RM9!!
