Remember 3 days ago I mentioned about Laozhabor? She is a 60 plus-year-old-lady. She’s so cool as she has her own blog and now even rap too!!!! Oh my god! She is just a good example for telling the world that “Learning is a never ending process!”. 活到老，学到老。
I want to mention a blog that I get to know it today, out of curiosity. I was watching “Just Follow Law” directed by Singapore director, Jack Neo. One of the scene is about an auntie using the laptop then she mentioned that she even got her own blog, and still say out the blog url which is laozhabor.blogspot.com. At first I thought that was just for fun…and because of curiosity and nothing to do, I tried laozabor.blogspot.com, laozhabo.blogspot.com – all leads me to the exact url which is laozhabor.blogspot.com. (Lao Zha Bor simply means “old lady” in Hokkien, a Chinese dialect). This is cool. So? Promoting blog through movies, that’s pretty cool. =)
I thought I was gonna write something about installing Ubuntu earlier. Even the Ubuntu free CD is already received, think I should at least say something about installing Ubuntu. I’ve been searching for tutorial on installing Ubuntu before I started installing it to my desktop computer. Detailed tutorials sometimes just make things more complicated. So, I just follow the instructions available when running the Ubuntu CD (I downloaded the image and burnt it to CD) – and it’s actually very easy, just like how you install an application in Windows.
But before installing Ubuntu, we should know the requirements, although it can be supported by almost every system, even older systems.
Minimum Hardware Requirements
– 700 MHz or better processor
– 256MB of memory
– CD-ROM drive
– Ethernet interface
– VGA graphics interface
– 3GB of available disk space
Earlier end of last month, I mentioned about ordering a free Ubuntu Linux CD. And today I finally received it. ^^ Happy!! This time is a newer and for the mean time the latest version of Ubuntu Linux (version 7.04, unlike the one I downloaded earlier which is version 6.06) Since I already installed Ubuntu Linux 6.06 to my PC, I will make this CD one of my collections.
I believe that “Amazing Grace” is a well known song for most of us. But have you ever heard of a guzheng (Chinese zither) version? Check this out! It’s played by a guy from Singapore under the name of coligar. Basically, he will upload his pieces of work to YouTube. I always enjoy his music – be it Chinese traditional songs or well known songs around us.
This is so exciting!! (At least for me, it is!) Yesterday，I finally received an email from the hosting company that I’ve signed up for. And guess what? My domain name is activated and now it’s available. Well, if you are wondering, I just bought a domain name but not web space. So, I still can manage to pay it. =PWell, hope I can keep blogging – though *NOT* a “pro”. I just love to blog whatever I think it’s worth sharing with others.
So, if it happens that you bookmarking my blog, you can use the new address now – http://www.xiaoyenzi.com
Recently, I’m crazy of Ubuntu Linux – although I haven’t successfully install it to my computer. Then, I was thinking, how about changing the look of my Windows XP desktop to look like a Ubuntu Linux’s desktop? Because what I like most about Ubuntu Linux, is its interface! Google a while, and I found a tutorial from Manas’ blog. A very well-done tutorial is written there.
I am not going to show the tutorial here, as you can find the complete and updated tutorial from the original author (click here) All credits go to the person who created all the lovely styles and of course the author of the tutorial.
Previously, I’ve said that I wanted to learn Ubuntu Linux. I’m totally a newbie with Linux operating system. Therefore, I think it is important for me to start from the very beginning with the question ‘What’ and ‘Why’. So, I will blog along my way during the process of learning Ubuntu.
After reading a few articles available from the net, I came up with a conclusion for beginners like me. Before we look into Ubuntu, there are 3 keywords we need to know: GNU, Debian and Gnome.
This morning, I just stumbled some videos around..and I found this thing. To be honest, I also search for cracks that are available if I want to use a full program. And of course risking my computer’s life..lol
