Upgraded to WordPress 2.8 Baker

WordPress 2.8 has been released yesterday. This blog was running on 2.7, so there’s an “automatic upgrade” feature available. I love this feature very much as it really facilitates all the upgrading tasks. 2.7 is given the name Coltrane. And “Baker” is given to the lastest version.

So for I haven’t really go through all the new features, but some outstanding changes are:

Interface (I like the blue theme, in the new release, the theme looks slightly dark, not as bright as before)
Widgets navigation changes
Theme / Plugin editor more “programming friendly”

According to WordPress official blog, there are 180 new features and changes in Baker.

The Final Relief

15th of every month, I have to do “close sales” or “sales closing” for the previous month. I don’t understand why I have to do such thing as I am working as an IT staff, not admin clerk. That’s why I am very BUSY during 15th of every month. Closing sales can take up whole day! From checking total sales tally, to print reports, to filing, to packing… It’s a very dull and tiring job. (Boss, if you are reading this by any chance, I’d like to tell you I really dislike this job as I don’t think it’s in my job specification, moreover I’m underpaid)

Normally I will file the whole pile of invoice file copy till very frustrated. But today, I was very happy! Why? Because this is my last time doing this!!! (Just like the pic above) So happy that I wish I could just pack my luggage and go for a holiday.

This is really a relief! The picture above shows my final action in filing the invoice file copies. What a “legendary moment”. Then, I will have to work for another few more days before taking a break.

Some other updates:

WordPress 2.6 is released today. I’ve upgraded most of my blogs to 2.6 now.

E, the author of Onionhead, has added another few more new emoticons. He will be focusing on drawing Onionhead avatars for the Beijing Olympics, so no new emoticons will be created for the time being

Change Layout & Upgrade WordPress 2.5

Hey everyone! Thanks for visiting my blog. Some of you have noticed that I’ve changed my blog layout. Looking for a great layout is sort of hard for me. I’ve been favoring 3 columns design for some time, until recently I feel that I don’t really need a 3-column layout. This is because I’ve cut down a lot of “not-so-useful” widgets at my sidebar.

Of course, I am still not capable of designing a layout from scratch. So I found a nice 2 columns blog theme and start modifying it. I found it more comfortable to do all the modification work in my widescreen laptop, as there’s more space available than using my old box with 15″ CRT monitor.

When you pimp your blog, it is very important that it is compatible in other browsers other than the one that you use during development stage. I’m a Firefox fan, my blog will definitely look better in Firefox. During my first attempt (with most of the original code setting), the new layout looks great in Firefox but it totally looks bad in Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari (assuming Netscape and other browsers too). After modifying the codes and structures, I tried to make it compatible in Firefox and IE7. From my laptop, it looks good in both browsers, however, I bet the alignment is still ruined in other browsers other than Firefox.

Other than that, I have also successful upgraded this blog to WordPress version 2.5. Like I said before, I still need some time to get use to the interface and the new features available. And this is my first post made in WordPress 2.5.

Conclusion, this blog is now best view in Firefox.
